Rotoworld ranks Gettleman 9th best GM in NFL

Belichick #1 is outrageous. He's an all-time head coach, not an all-time personnel man.

He controls all the Pats' personnel decisions as well. He's pretty much their GM and head coach.

They've missed the playoffs once in the past 15 years (with an 11-5 record and Matt Flynn as the QB at that IIRC). I'd say he's done a pretty fuging good job.

Matt Cassel. And as much as I hate Belicheat, he is a great football coach.

I guess we all know Nate Conleys' CH username now.

But is it because of his coaching abilities or personnel decisions? Of course he's done a great job overall in his position, but I would strongly argue it's because of his coaching abilities significantly more than his personnel decisions.

In Belichick's case, I really don't see how you can credibly separate the two.  He does it all from draft, to free agency, to coaching.  Bill knows how to field championship teams off the field as well as on.  I think that people just like to hate on him because he's Bill Belichick.  Give the man his due in all aspects of the game.

    • Well he quickly deflected the question about Rico's "almost 7 YPC." He is very polished and he transitioned well to non-answers and side steps. I can see why a guy like him was able to pull the wool over on guys like Tepper.
    • 31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching.  Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close.  *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB.   Drive 1? ZERO carries.  Coaching.  Drive 2 - Rico was playing great.   Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries.  Coaching  Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick  with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going)  Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired.  I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching.  The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D.  It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
    • In the locker room after the Dallas game, multiple  players said FEED him when Canales mentioned Rico stats. That already made me think even the locker room wouldn't care if Rico got the touches rn. This is on Canales indeed and I agree n the Qb take.  We aren't winning  bc of Bryce  but he has been managing it. Had the Jets had Qb aptitude,  we could've probably  lost that game too. All they would've needed is 14 points. Regardless, we got a team  that's being built up and that position needs an overhaul.  If ww lock in to Bryce, it'd be no different  than the 49ers locking into Purdy. Can't do it!
