Hardy Files Petition to Expunge Record

If Hardy was signed by Oakland he would have gotten his six game suspension decision by now.

But Dallas? They may have him sit the first preseason game.

And if he was signed by us he'd have been on the exempt list for another year or two before being given a 12 game suspension.

What is ridiculous about it?  He chose to have a bench trial and the judge felt there was enough evidence to convict him.  He then chose to move to a jury trial.  I can understand claims that the judge's initial ruling was flawed, but the law/system functioned as it should.

Because if you cant pay for a lawyer you don't get a fair trail. Hardy makes millions a year so its not a big deal but what about the common people?

I have a feeling that there is so much legal knowledge in the huddle ranks because many have found themselves on the wrong side of the law once or twice.

Come on, someone object.

I was thinking the same thing. I have no idea how the law works with this stuff. I'm not a lawyer and I don't get into legal trouble.

I have seen this statement repeated over and over and seen it corrected a number of times. In NC you can only "choose" a jury trial for a misdemeanor after you go through a bench trial. Hardy did not choose a bench trial, nor did he have an option of choosing.

In NC for certain misdemeanor charges, you can choose a bench trial, and then appeal the judges verdict if you don't like it.  Or you can opt for the jury trial from the beginning.  Although it changed I think after this past year's election due to an amendment to the NC constitution.

That's not really a problem with the law, its a problem with the system in general.  Its true with just about anything more than a traffic violation.

except for the fact you dont get to choose in the first place. With any other court you can choose to have a bench or jury trial in the first place. This taxes people income to force them into being guilty.
