I've seen a lot of fans on his bandwagon and I've seen a lot of others dead set against it.

Me? I've been back and forth. Seems like what I read about him, I feel positive. When I watch clips though, I start to feel a little less certain.

So a challenge to fans and foes: Convince me why we should take him or why we should avoid him like the plague.

Some games he looks doofy and lunges alot but after watching alot of film on him I can see he holds his owm against top pass rushers.

I compared him to other films I watched sherff, flowers and humpries.

Peat has looked better then everyone of those guys , he is still raw but he can start day 1 at lt.

I can't get the combine out of my head where he just looked absolutely gassed during drills, which obviously worries me.  But then I read where everyone seems to think he's the most pro-ready OT, would fit our scheme, and has great potential so I'm torn as well.

 

If he's the pick, I'm excited. But I'll always have an uneasy lingering feeling that his weird ass body won't hold up for some reason. Whether he just continues to get gassed, can't move his lower body enough (the lunges) or whatever.

Andrus Peat has the ability to become one of the best tackles in this year class. He has a lot of the measurable's you look for in a tackle prospect. He is huge guy at 6'7 an 34 3/8" arms weighing 313 pounds with 10 5/8" hands. The frame that Peat is carrying is massive with his huge lower thick half, and the fact he is only 20 years old he will have time in the NFL to add to that frame. A lot of analysts is saying Peat is likely to go top 10 or 15. I think teams will sleep on him and he likely falls. He played good in the PAC 12 and Leonard Williams one of the best DE prospects in this class. Williams said earlier in the week that Peat was the best tackle he faced all year. I am hoping that he falls to the Panthers at 25. That would be a dream scenario for us fans and Gettleman.

He needs conditioning but wouldn't be mad at the pick at all. He would feel a definite need.

He's probably top 3 OL (Scherff and Collins above him) against the run, he uses his feet well to create the right angles and has the core power to finish off blocks while staying upright. 

 

He has the power to deal with direct rushes easily, but lacks the flexibility and balance to position himself quickly against speed and outside rushes. As a prospect he's got a decent floor but his ceiling depends on whether he can improve his footwork and balance. Suggests to me that he should be available late first round but we shouldn't have any issues with taking him in the first.

I haven't went back and watched his games in awhile, but the big gripe I have with him is how unbalanced he will be at times.  Too often I saw him on the ground.

 

No prospect is going to be perfect at our pick though, so I'm not sure I would really use that as a legit reason not to take him (I would take him if he was there barring an unexpected fall from another highly regarded prospect).  But that is one of his flaws.

Give me two hog mollies and a quality WR. If its Peat and Goldman, I would be happy. Enough good WR's to snag a good one. Add a RB and secondary help in the mid to later rounds.....I would be satisfied.

Interesting, because I see your rankings of the top 3 OTs, and I see a ranking that goes

1. Flowers

2. Clemmings

3. Humphries

 

(Scherff and Collins projecting to G; Peat, according to Corey Chavous of Draft Nasty, is going to be a RT).

 

This draft is SO wide open.  I think the problem with OT is that the college game is sending us players with a different skill set than 10 years ago.
