The Panthers are a candidate to trade up for Andrus Peat, DJ Humphries or Cedric Ogbuehi

I'd puke if we traded up in the first for Ogbuehi. He allowed 7 sacks last season. That is horrible for a 1st round offensive lineman. And add to that his ACL injury i wouldnt touch him in the 1st and i would definitely not move up to grab him.

This is just one play, but this is a play when he played right tackle 2 years ago.

This was the final significant play of the Auburn at Texas A&M game from 2013 with Ogbuehi (at right tackle) blocking (or making an attempt at blocking) Dee Ford at left DE.  Now Ford was a damned good college player (and has potential to be in the NFL), but his max playing weight in college was around 240 and he effin' BULL RUSHED Ogbuehi and owned his butt.

I have questions about how a guy like that, coming off an ACL injury, is going to handle the best of the NFL rushers who generally come off the right side of the defense against the left OT.

I would have no problem rolling the dice on a guy like Ogbuehi with our 2nd round pick if he was still there.  I would just rather pick a better player at another position if he's the only guy left available in the 1st round.  I think Humphries has more upside and potential at LT than Ogbuehi.

Now if that's the pick Gettleman makes then my position would be that he obviously knows a whole lot more about Ogbuehi than I do.  This is just my opinion NOW.

I'd rather move up in the second...but those are all the T's the Panthers seem to like

Supposedly they are high on Flowers as well and don't like Collins. Never seen anything one way or the other on Jake Fisher.

Of course for all we know, the Panthers are leaking their dislike of Collins as a smokescreen and he's the real guy they are targeting.

I think the words "dont like at all" and "maybe wasn't as highly rated as others prior to the evalutaions" are pretty interchangeable

Without the injury issues with Humpphries' running mate, Chaz Green (team captain who's played every position on the line,) Chaz grades out higher and can be had in the 6th.

I'm thinking maybe the second is where we find an OT, I have seen so many different rankings who knows where they will go. I like Fisher and Clemmings.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
