Bleacher Report's Matt Miller rumors leading up to the draft

top dawg

Matt Miller of b/r has published his "final scouting report" of this year's draft season, and since we need to pass the time until the draft, what better way to listen to some rumors that may or may not be smokescreens during this Lying Season.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2445655-2015-nfl-draft-matt-millers-final-scouting-notebook

For those that just don't want to read, here is my translation:

1.   DGB not likely to be drafted in the first round, though some GMs really want to (but quashed by owners).

2.   The Raiders are in love with AC, and might choose him over Leonard Williams

3.   FSU's Tre jackson has failed multiple physicals (due to chronic knee issues)

4.   Cyrus Kou---err, Arie Kaoundjio has failed multiple physicals (due to chronic knee issues)

5.   49ers love Arik Armstead

6.   NFL teams don't give a poo about Winston getting the hook-up on crab legs.

7.   Cleveland is desperately trying to work out a way to move up for Mariota

8.   UM's edge rusher, Frank Clark, likely won't make it pass the third.

9.   Todd Gurley is going to get drafted in the first

10. Damarious Randall has been one of the busiest prospects in April

11. Randy Gregory will not fall out of the first round.

12. Chip Kelly and the Eagles are on Breshad Perriman's jock.

13. Shane Ray's foot problem wasn't a real problem (but the article was likely written before his pot problem)

Like I said, take it all with a grain of salt. It's just something to talk about and consider in the grand scheme of things.

Miller has routinely been used by teams to spread misinformation(or he just makes crap up). Notably when he said Matt Barkley would not get past pick 7 who then went in the 4th round in 2013 and that the Bucs were desperately trying to move up to get Manziel who they later passed on at their original spot last year

Cleveland has such remarkable history with drafting great QBs in the 1st round.  Why not try again?

They have the assets to pull it off.  Titans would probably ask for #12,#19, and their 1st rounder next year.  That's if they're not interested in Mariota.  If they think he's a franchise QB, they gotta sit tight and take him.

Would love for the Eagles to select Perriman.

Agreed. I think he would be the only guy I'd really be frustrated with drafting at 25. I think Agholor and smith are reaches in the first, but wouldn't kill me. In fact, the more I've thought about it, I think someone like a hardy in the third fills the role we really need in the offense with KB as the #1, ginn/brown as the burners, hardy in the slot, and now Newton would have effective weapons who all fill their roles decently.

Why?

You don't trust Gettleman to pass Perriman up if he hasn't given him a first round grade?  Second round grade?  Or, maybe you're just trying to troll...

It would push prospects we have more highly rated down the board. This would be one of the "mistakes" Gettleman said he hopes teams make.

the thrist is real

I must admit that I took some liberties with the word "desperately", but it is probably closer to the truth than not when a Browns' coach said that Mariota was "outstanding".

Because the Panthers are not interested in the 1st and it would increase the chance that someone they are interested in drops to 25.

Well, I suppose that's a reason, albeit a kind of weak one.  I think the troll thing makes more sense.

    • take a  look around the league at other young Qb's around Bryce Young's age group  such as Drake Maye , Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix , CJ Stroud  & Caleb Williams who at the time like Bryce Young they also were drafted also joined teams with a losing record .the only difference with these Qb's is after joining their teams with a losing record they led those same teams to a winning record in a very short period of time .it's simply what you call a game changer & or elite Qb's & then take a  look at  the other side of the coin you have Qb's such as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields  & Anthony Richardson also like Bryce Young all first round picks who instead of winning either did not play or led their teams to a losing record while playing  just because Bryce Young was a #1 overall pick does not necessarily mean that he will become improve with time if history tells you anything it's matter of fact just the opposite . lBryce Young who has an overall record of 14-30 & wildly inconsistent & never in the history pf the NFL has a Qb 5'10" or shorter had a successful carrer as Qb in the NFL  you have to ignore alot of FACTS & be really ignorant to the FACT to think Bryce Young is the future at Qb if anything history is telling you exactly what ?..just saying

    • to me these two signings were so bad for the Panthers at the time of our young team. "Sean Gilbert was signed by the Carolina Panthers on April 21, 1998, after being traded from the Washington Redskins in a deal that sent the Panthers two first-round picks (Nos. 5 and 12) to Washington. The Panthers then re-signed Gilbert to a 7-year, $46.5 million contract extension on the same date"  The other was Jason Peters being picked in the First round of the 1998 draft. "Peter played for the Panthers from 1998 to 2001, appearing in 38 games (starting 20) and recording 88 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery His NFL career was cut short by a chronic neck stinger, forcing him to retire after the 2001 season
