Our season still by and large hinges on one position

The news out of rookie mini-camp today has been very encouraging and exciting to hear.  But, I won't feel entirely comfortable that we're ready to take the next big step forward as a team until we get to training camp and see what we're working with at LT.  I am really, really, REALLY hoping that pairing Oher back up with Matsko will jump start his career again.  We can't have another year with a turnstile LT.  When we're having to run max protect on the majority of our passing plays, it really hamstrings our offense. 

 

If we can field a decent LT this year, I really feel that we can truly be a contender.  Another turnstile at LT and I still feel that we can be a good team, but it's hard seeing us being a legit Super Bowl contender.

We'll see if Daryl Williams is the answer at RT. I'm optimistic he is. Then if Oher isn't as good as I hope, we only need to send the help that way with the TEs or RBs throwing a chip block to help. Having 4 of the 5 O-Line positions locked down will make protecting Cam a lot easier than last year.

Well we can always plug Nate Chandler in and be right where the Panthers were a season ago. No fall back there.

Greg Olsen would agree... He probably would have had at least a dozen more catches if he didn't have to stay in and block.

All the guy has to do is be average.  That's it.  We don't have to expect him to play at a pro bowl level.  An average, middle of the pack performance, and we will have improved ten fold.  All reports thus far, say he's working his tail off, and he seems to be very happy to be here working with Matsko.  Let's hope all of that translates to his on field play.

Just not seeing the potential out there for it.  We lucked out big time landing Olsen and a big reason why is that Martz just didn't really do much to feature a TE in his offense.  Everyone wants a top LT.  Top LTs in the prime of their careers just don't hit the trade block and if one did, we certainly wouldn't be able to steal him for a 3rd round pick.
