To all my fellow huddlers who have lost mom's, a tribute to them on this special day. May we all have fond memories and celebrate their lives. Love you mom and you will never be forgotten.

Lost mine on Thanksgiving 2005 to an aneurism. I try to live as loving and caring as she was every damn day.

Happy Mother's Day mom!

And to the fortunate ones who still have their mothers, don't take them for granted. Spoil them today and every other day you possibly can.

My mom died after a long terrible battle with cancer in 1980 when I was a teenager. I was a self absorbed goofball, she spent her last year at a hospital an hour and a half away and didn't want my sister and I to see her if she was feeling really bad which was a lot, and she was sick for a couple of years before that, so I only really knew her as a mom to fairly young kids.I do have a pretty cool stepmom though.

My mother died at age 43. She was a wonderful person, kind, smart, and loving.  There was no one who did not like her. I was in college when she died. We had just begun to develop an adult mother/daughter relationship.  She was and still is the person I most admired.  She had become my best friend.

Many years have passed since she died.  I still miss her every day.  She is still  in my dreams.  There is no darker day in my life than the day she died.

When she died, I did not think I could survive.  My loss is still great.

I have come to a place where I know that I am a better person because of the mother that I had.  I feel fortunate and would trade her for anyone.  After many years, I know I am probably a more compassionate person.

There is nothing in my life  I would not trade for 1 more day with her.

For years, I hated Mother's Day.  Now, I just try to ignore it.

    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
    • According to Scott Fowler, in an article about former Panthers announcer applying for a job with the Ravens... what that job pays, incidentally, when the Ravens posted it publicly they said the salary would be $4,000 to $5,000 per game. An NFL season consists of 20-24 games, including the preseason and potential playoff games, so it will end up somewhere between $80,000 and $120,000 a year. The person hired will be an independent contractor, which is commonplace in the NFL these days for team broadcasters, and also have other radio and TV hosting assignments.  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article315839800.html
