in regards to his contract.

Though Rodgers made the negotiations sound slow, but civil, he said he and Wilson are looking for a "fair" deal that rewards Wilson's performance in his first three years.

During his radio appearance, Rodgers said:

"Russell Wilson's under contract with the Seahawks and he absolutely, if he has to, would certainly be fine playing his fourth year under a four-year contract that he signed coming out, and then moving on from there. I don't feel any particular crunch on time and any real particular deadlines."

...

"I think what he's looking for is what everybody's looking for, and that's a deal that feels fair, that feels reasonable and that at the end of the day makes him feel comfortable with the compensation he's receiving for the skill and the performance that he's delivering."

Rodgers also added that he would characterize the negotiations as "positive and encouraging."

Damn it feels good.

love how much the Seahawks mess with your guys minds!!!!

In all fairness Russ having gone to NCSU ties him with Carolina, and the National Media likes to compare him to Cam.

And our overly sensitive small market team still gets their feathers ruffled at the fact that one walks on water and the other is a villain. Yes Russ DESERVES to get paid... because unlike the masses who think Russ is a top 5 QB OR is mediocre at best that has his team carry him, the reality is he is pretty damn good QB that is somewhere in between those two things. Plus it also rubs us wrong the assumption that Russ is better than Cam when its clearly the other way around..... I'll tell you this, if Cam was the Seahawks QB last year you're a 1 yard Newton Super Man celebration from a 2nd ring.

    • I've shown you numerous comps for other tackles in the same age and talent range.  His contract, taking into account his age, health, etc.  is the going rate.  It's a fair deal. I've shown you examples of how long it usually takes to find even an average replacement.  Hell, look at every tackle that has ever started for the Panthers.  How many would you consider a success?  They are not easy to find. After everything we've done with this team since drafting Bryce why would we decide to let our best linemen go and add a huge question mark at tackle?   FA is a crapshoot in which any guy available will have cons/issues.  If not, they'll cost a fortune.   Outside of a first or maybe 2nd round pic next year it'll take a few years for a tackle to learn the position at the NFL level.  There are still questions about Icky. Every vet NFL player deals with maintenance.  Between the contract value and history I'm not overly worried about his knee.  I contend his knee issue isn't anything to be overly worried about.  It's not zero risk but it's an acceptable risk.  Every player we draft and every contract we sign has risk.  You're blowing up his own negative words about his knees and ignoring him saying he is healthy and the knee is a non issue.  You have a strong chicken little complex with this team.  Being he has always been a Panther they are very aware of any health issues. We paid now because now is cheaper.  If his knee was really an issue they would have waited.  That tells me it's not the issue you want it to be.
