Kudos to Mr. Benson to make the call and eat all that money

Benson has no idea what day it is anymore, much less the daily goings-on of the team he owns.

<Hey Tom...We just elected you Grand Poo Bah of all things shiny............just kidding.>

If they wanted to beat us this year, it would have to be by pressuring Cam through our untested OTs.

Looks like this is going to hurt them double hard as Galette usually sacks Cam pretty often. Them losing Him is probably almost as bad as us losing Hardy in terms of the impact it had on the field.

i was thinking the same thing. junior galette plays LDE, facing our right tackle. our horrendous rotation at the position last year meant we had some schlub facing off on him every down by himself because we had to constantly stick chips and blocking backs to the left side to keep our lawn chair of a left tackle from letting someone impale cam.

galette's departure helps us out significantly, because it means our current right tackle (whoever it ends up being) can likely handle his man and we can worry about giving oher help. hell, maybe he won't need help.

this could make a big difference in two very critical division games.

Per Spotrac.com Galette's cap hit in 2015 is 5.5M, and $12.1M in 2016.

2015 Dead money currently is $27.1M

The TEAM's Dead money for 2016 per the same site is $12,103,600 in total. Covering Galette and a TE Spears for 3,600.

Currently, So, it seems all their dead money is going to poof at the end of this season?

Junior lines up almost exclusively against LTs. I'm not saying he doesn't swap every now and then, but generally he's on the offenses left side and Cam Jordan is on the offenses right side.

Basically. Before this happened, the Saints had done a good job of clearing contrast off the books for coming years.
