Philly Brown

WOW!!

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong but I saw Philly as the small quick Wrs .. Who gets Yac and makes short passes big gains...

He can run deep routes but also gets smoke screens and slant routes as well.. And maybe this is a plan not to show anything in the preseason and only run vanilla routes and we will see these plays in the regular season...

So I'm not giving up on Philly in that aspect ....

My problem with Philly is.. He needs to either be a better hands catcher.. So he snatching the ball out the air and ready to run after  catches.. Or countine you being a body catcher and be prepare to take hits going across the middle... I don't see the 2nd thing because he is always looking for a place to fall when he knows he is about to take a hit...  So he needs to improve his hands so he can reach his full potential.. He gets to much separation to always go to the ground after making a body catch...

He's just not that good.  He surprised last year simply by making the team and making a contribution, but our WR corps was trash overall and he had 21 catches for less than 300 yards.  Not sure why everyone wanted to rush to crown his ass after that.  Anytime you get anything out of a UDFA, you have to count yourself as fortunate, but it seemed like everyone wanted to pencil him in as our starting slot WR for the next decade.  Easy now...

Im not %100  sold on Brown either. PPersonally I'd like to see Boykin get some reps with the starters Fri.

I have no idea who I want to see getting the reps.  We just really, really need Funchess to get healthy ASAP and be able to be a legit threat because our WR corps is terrifying.

You and me both. I believe Boykin is a damn good underrated receiver. If anybody watched the Packers in 2013 when Cobb and Rodgers was hurt, he came in and put up some pretty good numbers for the season. He attacks the ball in the air better than Philly and is a bigger frame. I hope he gets reps with the ones Friday.

I think he has earned It.

Jarrett Boykin is better than Philly Brown. I wouldn't cut him just yet. I would put him on the practice squad.

Philly = Upgrade over Reggie Wayne at this point. He won't make it past waivers. If NE got him they would turn him into next Wes Welker IMO

I don't get why we are talking about PSing him instead of Spicoli Bersin

    • I mean as far as his size goes it's all over his tape bouncing up and down on his toes in and around the pocket trying to see the field and defenses know this as well as we do but if folks here want to live in never never land and pretend it's not a thing that's their prerogative. Even our head coach has made it a key focal point to get his footwork under control. But it's still something Bryce is going to be tested on early and often no matter how many keystrokes anyone here commits to the narrative it isn't an issue.
    • It speaks volumes that when asked to define a clear performance threshold the responses instead fixate on Bryce's size. It reinforces what’s been clear for a while now... that for some, it has never been nor will it ever be about production. Any struggles will always be chalked up to his frame, and any strong play will be downplayed or disqualified via highly mobile goalposts.
    • It is hard not to feel hopeless. There is some hope buried behind a hopeless wall but the hopeless wall is thick.  Going off of the last two games I don’t see how we win.  Team looked utterly defeated on Thursday, kinda like the Leafs did when the Panthers tied the series 2-2, and we all know how that ended.  I hope for the best. I will at least turn on the game for a little while.
