Not much in potential receiver cuts

It sucks watching this team sputter at WR when I honestly feel like every other position is going full speed. What I saw last night was a turnover happy defense that could easily be the best with Star, KK and Big Money in the line up pass rushing and stuffing the run. On offense I saw production with CAP even without Kalil but what disturbs me is how none of the WR's stepped up to fill the huge void left by Benjamin. If Brown makes his catches and the DB's who dropped easy INT's grab them, we're winning the game by 10+ points easy. Some will say, oh Brady didn't have weapons so we have to disregard how the defense played but we were honestly missing more players than the Patriots.

Truth is I don't know who will be cut, but this is one of those times a bold move is needed to get this team over the hump. I can just imagine us finishing 10-6 up against the Seahawks again and losing because Corey "dickforhands" Brown drops the game winning catch wide open over Sherman.

Understand the concern re: WR and I am growingly considering the mind blowing idea that Getts might be willing to work a trade if this is really the only major weak link of the team, as is looking possible at the moment.

BUT, I have a question about what you wrote.  Do we have snap counts / number of targets for each WR?  If Cam didn't throw the ball to other open wide receivers, how could they step up?  I believe Corey Brown got the huge share of targets last night?  Can someone provide hard numbers of targets & snap counts for the WRs?

Why in the world would i want a one year "band--aid" if presented with an opportunity for a decent long term starter?

thats idiotic.

if Funchess isnt capable of supplanting him and taking his job as the number 2, then so be it. Then we'll have a deep options at WR, as every team in the year 2015 is actively working to do.

This isnt 1993 afterall.

Armon Binns

Ace Sanders

Da'Rick Rogers

Any of those three would be worth a look.

Has Binns even played any football the last 3 years? I can't find anything past 2012.

Sanders could possibly be worth a look, but we already have a similar WR in Byrd.

Rogers bouncing around from team to team combined with his legal troubles make his chances of interest on our part pretty minimal.

All in all, it's not a great time to be looking for a WR.

I'm just hoping Funchess can step up, but we shouldn't put too much pressure on him.

    • So answer the question. Why did Chark and Hurst have the same metrics (go look them up, I did... and one was actually worse in LA) with Justin Herbert? Why did Mingo have the same metrics with Dak? You're right, there is a common denominator, just not the one you're trying to make.  Why could DJ Moore get open with Bridgewater, Allen, Cam 2.0, Darnold, Baker, Williams, Bagent? I'll answer the question for you - because he is a good WR unlike Chark/Hurst/Mingo.
    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
