D-will had more yards against the Pats last night (127) than our starters had combined in our dress rehearsal against the Pats in the first half (116)

He has also lost 15 pounds, and is fresh--his age won't catch up to him for a few games.  Let's see how the comparisons go later in the season.

This.

He took his conditioning seriously for the first time in several years apparently. Amazing what not having a fat contract that makes it more expensive to release you than keep you does for motivation.

Williams lost a ton of weight and all offseason was focused on making in through 2 games to "show everyone".

no different than the Steve Smith rage window last season.  Then Steve was back to being the guy we cut.

Good for him having a good night.  You don't get that guy if he is still here nor should anyone want to be paying that money to him

He's a good running back, he was for us and he proved he's still got some gas in his tank. It wasn't going to work out here for him -- the paycheck was too large, the carries were split and Cam was always the better option in most called plays. We also had a lousy offensive line for the last few years and a terrible play action passing game.

I'm glad to see him having some success and he had some stellar years with us. I think he lost focus badly last year after his Mom died and it affected him as a player and a teammate. We needed to move on and he needed to prove it to himself that he could still play. It's working out for him and I hope it works out for us.

He said some bad things on his way out the door, but look kindly on him for all of the years he did so well for us.

Ah, yes, the Carolina fan base once again their butt hurt on full display. DeAngelo Williams signed a 2-year, $4M deal with the Steelers knowing full well he'd be starting the first 2 weeks due to Bell's suspension. He also knows this league doesn't care about running backs once they turn 30. The guy wants to play a couple more years, why begrudge him of that?

Rather than wish the guy well, actually want to see him extend his career and watch him have a good game against a pretty pedestrian run defense, Panther fans want to lay it at William's feet that Marty Hurney gave him stupid money- as if he was going to turn it down.

I don't know if I even agree about Williams not being motivated with us, but I certainly disagree about Smith. Steve Smith has always been one of the most highly motivated players in the league. He would have been motivated to outdo his opponent every play (including in practice) as a Panther. And he had a very good season last year.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
