GETTLEMAN, BREAK YOUR OWN RULE AND SIGN NORMAN TO AN EXTENSION NAAAOOOOOOW!

Franchise Tag for sure.

Great jobs by the FO this off-season except dropping the ball on getting Norman signed.

Unfortunately, because our D-line is injury depleted, we now must have an e-lite ahutdown corner.

We're gonna have to dump CJ, restructure Kalil and lose one of star or KK. Don't forget we'll have to be signing KB in a couple years as well.

Looks like we're drafting nuthin' but Hawg-Mollies in next-years draft, with CAP, Fozzy and Tolbert as our offensive backfield.

 Unfortunately Josh will be gone.

guy is all pro right now and there is no dispute. I will be filled with feels when he leaves

Gettleman would be a dumbass to let Norman go especially with no talent at Pass Rushers. We saw in 2013 that even with a good DL our weak secondary could be exposed. We need a complete team in the front 7 and the secondary and it starts with Norman back there.

i'm not seeing where kk or star would deserve a big contract maybe mid range but star hasn't been healthy recently and for some reason kk is still getting rotated in.

It works almost the same way with cb's as i does qb's, if were going to invest that much in norman i hope we have a strong plan to get some de's in here who can get after the qb.

If Gettleman wasn't going to negotiate a new contract with Luke Kuechly during the season, there is little reason to believe he would do it for Josh Norman.

Josh will play lights out this year, and get a contract that the Panthers won't match. Enjoy him while we have him here guys.

Star and KK  have been good for us, but they have been overrated on here. They dont make the impact at there positions that Norman makes at his to say they absolutely are a priority over him. If anything this the year when we need those 2 high round picks to step up the most, i hope we still see it but I dont care what your philosophy is on defense you still need to get that impact production from those valued positions to say they are the most valuable. Secondary is making more plays than the front 7 since the middle of last year.

Again, he's here for the next two seasons if Gettleman says he is (we can Franchise Tag him twice) and there's not much he can do about it. This offseason for him, it's either sign an extension or get tagged twice then probably let walk two seasons from now.

The Tag number on a CB is 14 mill.   I don't know if we tag him, but I don't know how you let him walk for no compensation.

That's about what he and his agent would be looking for, if I had to guess. The problem with us tagging him is that the contract is fully guaranteed. We'd be fuged if anything happened.

I can see why Gettleman wasn'
t/isn't absolutely freaking out about signing him. He has the option to keep him, and there's not much Josh can do accept sign the huge Franchise Tag contract and play.

For a long as I can remember the front office and coaching staff have sold us on their ability to scout, draft and retain quality players rather than building a team via free agency.

I see Josh Norman as the perfect example of their philosophy working.  Norman is a 5th round draft pick that has turned into one of the 5th best corners in the league. (maybe I'm being bias at 5th but he's without a doubt top 10.)

If we let Norman go then I guess the whole philosophy that the Panthers brass has sold us on is B.S.

I'm sure Josh isn't going to demand an insane contact, yet I'm sure an insane contact will be offered to him. If we can pay him a fair price and not try to lowball him I believe he will resign, he likes it here and he's voiced that he wants to stay a Panther.

#Sign the man

    • For me, no issue going WR - as long as he can tackle when we move him to MLB
    • He was pretty highly touted that year by all the draftniks. But he's one of those small school guys who you do have to pay attention to his workout numbers since he was playing against lower level competition. All his draft hype was about his great athleticism and potential, then he went to the Combine and posted very pedestrian measurable. 5.33 40 time, 29.5" vertical, 26 reps on the bench. Overall he had the 19th ranked athleticism score among DTs that year. No one would've been complaining in hindsight about drafting a DT had we drafted Chris Jones who was picked 8 spots after we drafted Butler.
    • We have one of the best young WR duos in the league with TMac and Coker. Could use a solid vet #3 option, but that's not terribly hard to find. You could make the argument that every other part of the roster needs long term upgrades before WR. OT - Icky injured, Moton aging, big question mark moving forward here Interior OLine - OG is great but center position is a big question mark, with injuries stacking up on Corbett and BC, and Mays being a free agent  (could definitely change though if we re-sign Mays) RB - Dowdle most certainly gone, not suggesting spending a 1st on RB but still, need a replacement here TE - Meh overall, basically have three guys who are backup #2 level TEs, could use a top end starter QB - lol LBer - horrible group, definitely needs upgrades Secondary - Mike Jackson could be playing himself out of our price range and 100% could use a new FS Edge - Scourton looks promising long term but need more here in this unit, obvious weak spot DT - Brown is a beast, but outside of him very thin   WR is the ONE position on the entire roster where we're actually looking great moving forward lol TLDR --> this mock is retarded
