It feels like the hype around our Run blocking should have been for pass blocking.

I think the stacking box thing is bit of a excuse. I know it can cause problems, but that isn't explaining the lack of push we are getting. Plus Cams presence should help offset some of this. I mean norwell and Turner were billed as bulldozers and Kalil the best center in the game. You'd imagine the runs up the middle would be gashing.

I will admit to the theory it may just need some time to get a better rhythm. As long as we keep winning anyways, this all is moot.

Oher and Turner's ability in run blocking may show at times but if we had a balanced receiving/blocking TE2 , the run game would greatly benefit (but I like Dickson for what he is).  I'd love to find a big TE2 sometime soon.  That would be huge for Cam because I can tell we have a place for a Dickson type role but with even more targets.

Ever hear of a dude named Jeremy Shockey? We only went 6 and 10 in 2011 but Cam looked very comfortable with Shockey and Greggy on the field together.

Of course meng.  That was in Chud's offense but could really see us benefiting from that with Shula.  I'd love to find a young guy this next draft.

We are tied for 6th in rushing yards per game, but since Cam has almost as many yards as Stewart, that stat is not reflective of our running game.

I am not sure I agree.  If most of Cam's yards were scrambles, then yes.  But he has a lot of designed runs, so it is reflective of our running.  Don't get me wrong, I am not thrilled with having our qb be such an integral part of the ground game, but as long as they are designed runs, it counts.

Now if you say our  traditional running game blocking hasn't been good, I agree with that.

Hard to tell if it is talent or run scheme....but the starters couldn't run block in preseason either (traditional run)

Philly is a prime example of running scheme being a bigger issue the first two weeks....they made changes to their run calls week 3.

I hate to say it, but I believe a lot of it is Stewart making bad decisions. Of course it's easy to see from the couch, but I have noticed quite a few times that he  either bounced it outside or made a cut that he really didn't need to and it allowed the defense to recover. He does run hard though, so it has nothing to do with effort. I would like to see CAP get some action because he seems a little more slippery in tight spaces to me.

I have said it several times: until teams respect our receivers,  then this is basically how it's going to be.  KB kept teams honest last year.  This year we just don't  have any one WR that strikes fear in the opposition,  now they can stack the box with impunity and cause us to have a very awkward ground game.

    • Today, we are all Kucci... I miss our feral Russian attack goalie!
    • That was a good segment. Watched every minute of it and would highly recommend it to all fans.
    • "So much of what the Panthers are going to do next week isn't dictated by their preference, but by what happens above them. That's another benefit of not getting locked into need. For instance, if you're thinking you want a receiver, seeing five or six of them go off the board and reacting by taking the sixth or seventh off your list instead of the first (or second or third) something else isn't necessarily wise." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-back-into-the-weeds-of-the-nfl-draft-bryce-young-charlotte-hornets-mock-draft This is what some don't seem to get, I don't care how many times it is said: You're NOT going to draft an inferior person at one position, just because that position is perceived as, or is in fact, a bigger need. That would basically nullify, or at least lessen, the reason why you set yourself up via free agency to be able to take the BPA/BAP on the board in the first place.  Yes, the process is complex, very much involved and ongoing, but the overall philosophy is not rocket science. You set yourself up in order not to be pigeonholed into taking a lower graded player at the expense of a higher graded one. This is why Morgan, Gantt and countless of others say the same thing. This is why it's just nonsensical to set yourself in a position where you don't have to, but then act like you have to come hell or high water: "Oh, we have to draft [whatever position], and we can't draft [this position]."  I'm good with whatever they do, until proven otherwise, but even then, you have to be mature enough to know that drafting is an imperfect exercise, filled with hits and misses. And, you generally don't know if you've hit, and especially missed, right away. Moreover, like I've said before, sometimes two players--different positions or not--can both be hits on their respective teams, so in that sense, it's not purely about a right or wrong pick as much as it's about putting puzzle pieces together at the time the best way that you know how.  At the end of the day, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but one thing that's true is that what the Panthers do regarding the draft is dependent upon what others do, and what others do can and does change things. That being the case, it's just another reason why you can't go in with tunnel vision. The thought of doing that is preposterous.
