what are the panthers hiding from us about luke

Recommended Posts

ron SAID monday that luke will see an independent doctor on tuesday. HOwever we have not heard from the panthers about whether luke passed or failed the test. Not only that, but he wasn't at practice at all today (he was doing non contact drills last week leading up to the saints game). all we have are a few clickbait articles from voth

there's something fishy going on w/ luke folks. we must get to the bottom of it. any suggestions?

So far as hits that have put players into the concussion protocol that I have seen, Luke's ranks up there with the worst. Head first, full speed into a guys chest pad. If brain bruises work like regular bruises, imagine the last time you lost your footing and took a running start at the nearest wall corner. Remember the mark that left? Now imagine that inside of your head.

In all seriousness, Luke is lucky to be walking. If they say he needs more rest, I'll believe it and not ask questions.

Or maybe he just keeps failing some part of the testing. It happens.

My guess?

The team already decided to keep him out until after the bye. Maybe they suggested they were ok with the docs taking it slow. Maybe he saw the doc yesterday but they haven't asked for the report. So maybe the report comes out late Thursday, Luke can't get enough practice in and becomes a healthy scratch.

In other words, maybe they are just being very cautious with their investment.

    • Ravens mixing it up with a random Mark Andrew tush push last year isn't a similar situation.  Lamar has run QB sneaks his entire career.  And often instead of a traditional sneak will even employ a 4th and 1 direct snap to Lamar simply because of how athletic he is (which even Cam did a lot of) and let him pick his own holes.
    • height being an issue doesn't just mean batted balls.  You could argue Bryce minimizes batted balls by adopting other poor habits such as his jump passing and leaving the pocket.   As I said, there are plays you can point to where he clearly was blind to parts of the field/players....which kills plays and opportunity. Which actually means some of the shorter/hot throws when things break down are where his vision gets blocked (and he had below average production all around the line of scrimmage).   has he figured it out? I mean, he improved off a trainwreck start.  But Bryce Young since arriving in the league (even while figuring it out)......doesn't generate much offensive production vs his peers.  I just think his ceiling is low.   And that's not in the grand scheme what you want in the NFL.  I think he can develop into a serviceable QB, that will largely always been a middle of the pack or low end starter.
    • People make a lot of noise about his footwork and I think it is overblown. Whether he takes 3 steps backwards or 5 small steps doesn't matter as long as he ends up at the right depth and is in sync with  the receiver regarding timing. If he does that consistently who cares as long as he has a firm stable base as he delivers the ball. Which he does need to work on. However even that is somewhat overblown given that often QBs have to throw off balance or from different arm angles to fit the ball around defenders. He is considered very accurate so apparently it isn't hurting him that much.
