What it will take to bring Steph back home

I had the chance to speak to Dell Curry for a bit at the Hornets gala last Saturday. I broke the ice by showing him my Panther Blue Curry 1's, which he loved. He had a dark pair of Curry's and said, "I thought I was the only one that could get away with not wearing Jordan's.".

Eventually I asked straight up, "When is Steph gonna come home?". Dell said, "Well, they've got a real real good team out there. This team has some work to do to get to that level. Then we'll see."

So there you have it. Maybe an obvious answer, but if the Hornets can improve to the point where they are missing that one piece, Steph might come home.

Also told Dell I loved the Sportscenter commercial and he laughed and said, "That is a true story. True story.".

Other notes from the night:

-everyone I spoke to and I heard speak is really high on Jeremy Linn, as a player and a person off the court. It seems the front office has Linsanty already.

-PJ Hairston was much more social and involved this year, smiling and engaging folks. Seemed to be having a really good time. Last year he was pretty quiet.

-Kemba was really cool. He shook hands and took pictures for every person that asked.

-Talked to Patrick Ewing for a minute. He was kind of cold at first, but once I told him I watched him growing up but "I wasn't a Knicks fan", he perked up and was like "Where you from?". I told him I grew up a Hornets fan and he said, "Man, we used to kick your guy's butts. Alonzo, me and him battled."

Really cool story and pics!

I think this team, if nothing else, will be much more likeable and watchable this year, alot like the final Bobcats squad that snuck into the playoffs and made the Hornets a trendy pick last season.

Unfortunately, I don't know if they have enough to shoulder the loss of MKG as the defensive anchor, unless Batum becomes the player some believe was held back on talented Portland squads.

We'll know where we stand quickly as that early schedule is brutal.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
