Fug the Refs pie

There were bad calls on both teams, yea it seems we had a few more bad and missed calls.

My thought on the games I have watched, not just the Panthers, overall poor officiating.

It is time to develop a way to hold them accountable for doing a bad job.  Suspend with pay is not a punishment.

Is it time for full time reffs with better training?

Your thoughts?

There were bad calls on both teams, but down the stretch EVERY bad call went against us.

1. Blatant offensive PI gives them a TD

2. Phantom flag on Olsen takes away a potentially game sealing 1st down

3. Blatantly incomplete pass ruled complete on 4th and 10 giving them a 1st down, then upheld upon review

4. Colts WR clearly down inbounds with about 30 seconds to go, refs rule him out of bounds giving the Colts a free timeout

I don't think it was fixed.  We won.  If it was fixed we wouldn't have.  I think refs are human.  They watch games and listen to the media.  They know Luck is known for sucking ass and then mounting comebacks.  They get caught up in the moment.  Once Luck started playing well in the 4th I think they started believing it was another Luck comeback.

Sorry  guess I should have been more clear.  What is the fix for what I have seen is very poor officiating this year.

Gotcha.

Well, for one, the NFL needs full time refs.  It's absurd that a multi-billion dollar industry employees part-time contract help in such vital positions.  Next, they need to start holding refs accountable.  They've gotten better about admitting to officiating mistakes, but suspending a guy WITH pay and calling that a punishment?  Most people call that a vacation.  It's ridiculous.

The crowd let them know that we knew how bad they were. Nothing but boos through the entire OT explanation & coin toss. Loud enough that you couldn't hear the ref with his microphone on.

Obviously they need better training for pro refs & making them full time would help. NFL isn't going to be happy with the refs' time "management" at the end of regulation mostly because it was a prime time, big stage game.

I was there as well and it was loud!  Oh, and the refs did suck!  I still say that was NOT a catch for the Colts.  That ball moved.  They were trying everything they could to give the media darling Andrew Suck the ballgame.  I had two obnoxious Colts fans sitting right behind me too.  Talked so much poo about Cam being a selfish player and were yelling things like "it's a team game Cam!"  There's also a Saints fan that sits in our section and comes to the games who, until last night, was actually alright (if you can believe that...LOL!).  He was running his mouth afterward about how we "pulled one out".  I leaned down and said to him as he was leaving, "yeah we did, but so did y'all this past Sunday."  He said, "you keep believing that."  LOL!  Really?  You won by 3 on a last second FG...just as well did.  Freakin' Saints fans.  I should have known his true colors would show.  I hate Saint's fans!

FUG ALL OF THE HATERS!  Go Panthers!  7-0 BABY!

@RealSkipBayless: Obviously, Whalen used the ground to help secure the 4th-down catch. Game should've been over then. Another blown call.

When Skip Bayless is right about something, the NFL should know it has problems.

Well said!  That still is NOT a catch!  Total blown call and more NFL Andrew Suck jock sniffing.  Fug all of them!

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
