Graham Gano is becoming a problem

Would have scored 40 today and not had to have sweat if he hadn't whiffed on his field goal today (not sure if footing was an issue.)

Wouldn't have had to have worried about overtime last week if he had made all of his extra points.

Forced us to need a TD instead of a FG against Seattle with a whiffed XP (you can discuss if that turned out to be a good thing or not.)

Wouldn't have needed to be worried (even just 2%) for a Mallett game-tying drive in the final minute if he had made all of his field goals against Houston.

Missed *2* field goals against Jacksonville.

There is no good immediate replacement for him, but this is an issue at this point. This is affecting the entire team. Yes, good on him for nailing the winner next week, but I'm worried about him missing a big kick in the playoffs.

I don't think it's a dumb thread at all.

Gano has missed some important kicks and it's getting to the point where he isn't automatic.  Yes, we've found ways to win, but like the OP said, in the playoffs, it could be costly. I wouldn't be opposed to competition. Not an outright cutting, but IIRC, didn't Gano come in midseason and out-perform our previous kicker?

Gano is one of the best kickers in the league. And if you havnt notice, all NFL kickers are struggling with the new PAT.  You are trying to make something out of nothing.  Gano is a big factor on why carolina is 8-0.  quit looking for non existent issues and just enjoy being 8-0. again this thread is dumb.

    • Why don't we just say they can shove the late round draft picks up their ass? If they want a player they will be starting at WR in Week 1, I want a MLB in return that we can start Week 1. Starter for a Starter Not Starter for a draft pick we'll be debating whether or not they should make the final 53 man roster in 2026.
    • Why?   No. This isn't a situation of a player we want to trade because we have no use for them.  He's our starting slot WR, our leader of the young WR room, Bryce's safety option the last 2 years who he has good chemistry with. If the Vikings didn't run into WR trouble, we'd never have been even considering trading him, so why in the world should we give him up for fair market value in a vacuum for Thielen and disregard what losing him off our roster will do for us this year? A 5th round pick in 2026 is a negligible draft pick, especially with this season being so make or break for Bryce and Canales.
    • The Vikings acquiring all these late round picks has me feeling like we're about to see another CMC situation play out here. Trade a player we really like for the equivalent of what we want for them on the draft pick chart, but because of a bunch of late round picks instead of the one pick value we actually want. Which will do the same thing in the end, nothing, because 6th and 7th round picks rarely work out to begin with, or we're just going to use them to move up 10 picks in the 3rd or 4th round to take another DJ Johnson
