Panthers still dominating Pro Bowl voting

Fortunately, Norman is the only major UFA we have after this season.

Ultimately, I trust Gettleman and the staff to identify our core players and distinguish them from the guys who can easily by replaced.

I don't think Norman's individual play can be easily replaced, but Gettleman, Rivera, and McDermott may come to the conclusion that in our scheme paying a top shelf CB isn't the best use of the money.  If that's the decision they come to, I just hope they're right.

 

Other notable UFAs include Harper, Remmers, Nortman, and Tolbert.  

Harper is an aging vet and may choose to retire.  Either way, I think we can upgrade his spot and Gettleman has shown a great ability to pick up cheap safeties who can excel in our defense (Mitchell and Coleman).  Tre Boston gives us some insurance currently on the roster as well.

I'd love to keep Remmers and honestly he shouldn't be THAT expensive.  But, we may want Darryl Williams in that spot long term and if that's the case he can sign elsewhere as a starter.  I'd love to retain him as a backup swing tackle.

Norman has a huge leg, but I think our staff may be concerned about his habit of outkicking his coverage.  He may be valued more elsewhere.

Tolbert is a guy I really want to keep, but we can't continue to pay him $3.5M.  Hopefully at this point he simply wants to finish his career close to home with a great franchise.  I could see him coming back at a major hometown discount

Which will benefit us. The fact no names are making names for themselves says a lot. It might hurt oher but that's all I really see

I can see Reemers sticking around as backup center and if they haven't found one to eventually replace Kalil then he could prove to be their backup plan. 

And maybe go into next year playing RT until DW quickly takes over.
