Frank Garcia calls Bene Benwikere "a JAG"

Concering our personnel on defense, yes. Bene was good at run support and an occasional blitz. However, every DB on our roster is solid at tackling, even Colin Jones. If Bene was our best coverage corner then his injury would have been catastrophic. IMO, Finnegan has looked like what Bene could potentially be but is not there yet.

JAG to me means below average player who shouldn't be starting but is because a team has no one better. I don't think that would be accurate for Bene. Bene was legitimately an above average corner last year both when playing outside and nickel. This year though he hasn't been great, hovering around average maybe a little below. I don't think his loss is that huge but it definitely hurts our corner depth especially with Tillman out. When Tillman's back with Cortland at nickel I think we're okay and maybe even better than with Josh, Peanut and Bene. Honestly believe Cortland has played better since we signed him than Bene has at all this year. I love Bene and am thinking this was just a sophomore slump and he should come back strong next year.

It's more about chemistry and communication at this point. I think it's dumb for anyone to say he's just a guy.

Do I hope his replacement plays to his level or better? Of course, and we all do. Bene will be missed regardless.

Communication and experience are paramount in any secondary. With him gone we're likely to see some missed assignments which is unfortunate

this is true

Lol Panther fans getting all high and mighty and disrespecting a great young player that made some big plays for us last year and has started on nearly all of our last 17 straight wins.

For a team that prides itself on our family approach it's dissapointing to see us start acting like the patriots - willing to toss players aside In pursuit of wins.

I didn't see anyone willing to toss Bene aside in the pursuit of wins. He was injured. Fact is Bene is a role player with good upside.

Thank you!!  Bene was ranked above Norman by PFF until the end of last year when Norman really came on.  He was/is an absolute steal in the 5th round.  He may not be an elite corner, but finding guys who can play inside & outside is not easy and he could do both pretty well.  I hate he got hurt and do believe we can make the defense still be successful with the guys we have and/or bring in, but some of the comments are completely disrespectful.

We definitely don't win 17 games in a row w/o some major contributions from Bene.

I honestly have been impressed by how far Frank Garcia has come in his radio career.  He was horrible when he first started but has greatly improved.

Now, setting that praise aside, he was the textbook "JAG" his entire career.  Now, anyone who even makes it to the NFL is in the very top tier of football players, but him putting a guy down like Bene down is disappointing to me.

Very much "takes one to know one."
