Frank Garcia calls Bene Benwikere "a JAG"

I disagree. He's played a lot of snaps at multiple positions for us in the past two years. He has playoff experience. He's clearly not one of our big stars but guys like him allow us to run our scheme. And I truly believe our scheme is the star. Kurt Coleman does not get 7 interceptions on any other team. We have the freedom to send Luke and TD on the blitz because we trust guys like JNO and Bene to be in the correct spot. It's easy to single out Bene because he gets thrown on quite often but he was one of the weaker links in the strongest chain. Defending the passing game in 2015 is not easy and we are the best at it.

And just think about all the calls Luke makes at the last second. Bene was on top of that stuff. Guys like Bene allow Luke to be Luke.

I'm not sure if I would say JAG... but he's definitely not the difference between us winning or losing in the playoffs.

Bene has a very high football IQ, that will be missed more than his physical attributes.

2nd year player on the rise is what Id call him. If Jason Verrett of San Diego is better than him, it isn't by much. Benwikere never gets the credit he deserves here and nationally apparently.

I get what Frank was trying to say, but I disagree with the JAG comment. I think he was comparing the Bene loss to losing one of our "stars". Bene is a 2nd year player that hasn't reached his full potential. If you listen to Garcia at all, he can sometimes stumble over wording, expressing thoughts, etc., but Bene is much more than a JAG to this team.

he plays well for a 5th round pick from a small school with one year of experience. that being said, he is replaceable talent-wise, but the chemistry thing and his familiarity with the defense is what will be missed.

He's more than a JAG at NB, but he's a JAG at outside corner. The concern is trying to replace him at this point in the season.

Bene has been great for this defense.  Has he been as good as he was last year to this point?  No.  But he's still a physical corner that tackles very well.  He will be missed.

Any time you lose a starter, it is not good news.  Bene was very good at filling an important role on a very good defense.  If he was not the best player for this role, the Panthers would have been starting someone else.  He will be missed.

He's not a superstar (yet, he's young) but he certainly doesn't qualify as a JAG.  He's a capable starter IMO, and would crack the top 2 CB spots on most rosters.

Dumbassery. No question. Bene' has been integral and possibly a very strong reason for why Coleman has 6 int's. 

Bene' is good at what he does and without him, we're back to needing Colon Jones to assume Bene's role. That's a big drop off in production, imo.
