KK Short Is The Carolina Panthers Defensive MVP

This is a defense with elite talent at DL, LB and secondary. I really don't know how to separate the greatness at all three levels, but if you want to tell me it's KK, fine. I also can't argue with the choice of JNo or Luke. They are all All-Pros, and no one is slighting any of them by choosing another as MVP. I'd personally go with Luke, but I'm not convinced I'm right. They're all phenomenal.

the flip side of DTs helping out CBs is that CBs also help DTs, by covering guys well enough to allow more time for pass rushes to develop. the argument for kawann short stands strong without invoking that fallacy imo

whoever it is it's a testament to this team that we're arguing over which outstanding, play-making, all-pro-talent-level player is the best badass on the roster.

KK Short Is The Carolina Panthers Defensive MVP ... at least in my opinion.

Allow me to state my case....

Yes, Luke Kuechly and Josh Norman are both playing at incredibly high levels. One could make a valid argument for either to be the defensive MVP. But for me, it is all about KK Short.

Point 1 - The Panthers kept winning without Luke Kuechly.

This is not a knock on Luke Kuechly at all, but more an endorsement of the amount of amazing talent on the Panthers defense. Even with Kuechly out for several games, the Panthers kept on trucking.

Point 2 - Josh Norman benefits from the play of KK Short.

I am a huge Josh Norman advocate, have been for years. No one can deny how he has dominated his opponents this season. But Norman has benefited from the play of KK Short. With Short applying pressure from the interior, QB's are forced to make throws that otherwise would not be made.

Point 3 - Those KK Stats

44 Combined Tackles

9 Sacks

81 Yards lost on Sacks

4 Passes Defended

3 Forced Fumbles

2 Fumble recovery

These numbers are All-Pro caliber numbers for a defensive tackle.

Point 4 - Game Winning Play.

Yes, Josh Norman single handedly saved the Panthers from a loss with his last second interception against New Orleans. Incredible play. But KK Short also saved the Panthers from having a loss this season. Against the Texans, it was Short's pressure that forced an intentional grounding by Ryan Mallet and kept Houston from scoring.

For the Panthers, it all starts with that defensive line and particularly the interior of the defensive line. KK Short is by far the best player in that unit which has dominated this season.

Therefore, he is my defensive MVP.

I agree, I think his play impacts the rest of the D the most.

His rush helps the back seven not the other way around.

    • You honestly think Tampa would have traded down with a division rival so their rival could land a “generational player” at a massive position of need for TB?   bruh
    • Ya'll better quit throwing shots at Zod. He'll come in here and ban everybody. I had a friend @prosource who was banned in 2015 because he said some very minor things about Zod being an ass to the posters on the main forum after starting the All-Pro one. He said he felt like another level is cool, but don't punch down on people that don't want All-Pro. (He did say that it wasn't going to last long anyways.🤔) I distinctly remember him calling and being like "dude, I got banned, my profile says I don't have access to the Huddle!") I feel like once Tepper came in and cut off all unofficial access to the team, Zod was going to be around less. The All-Pro board had really good photos, even in game stuff, and I remember seeing him behind a little fenced in area at Wofford for non team sanctioned press/photographers after Tepper bought the team. I knew then his ego wouldn't allow him to continue with past fervency and effort with that reduction in access. Dude was literally in the locker room when JR was owner.  I came over in 2011 immediately after finding out this place existed. I was super involved with the Charlotte forum, and fell off after its demise. I will never forget arguing Pep over Ryan Sims on that forum! Who is Ryan Sims some of you may ask? My answer is exactly!
    • And not see him running free. Because has been free a lot more than he gets credit for.    Now what XL does with that when he does see the ball, is on him.
