That was Chicago, where Josh Norman literally gave Brandon Marshall 7-10 yards cushion with outside leverage all the way down the field. They kicked a FG to win.

Oh thanks that's what I was thinking of. I don't know why I thought it was Roddy White for some reason.

Didn't Atlanta beat us in another heartbreaking game with nothing but slants?

Hopefully McDermott does some homework and doesn't let it become a trend for other teams to exploit as well.

Man slants always beats this zone defense for YEARS. Don't hold your breath for a change

this was a strategic loss by Ron.  he knew there was no way anything atl did could stop them.  so he gave the other playoff teams he may face game tape on how to beat the panthers.  They will use atls game plan and fail miserably.  Ron has said repeatedly in press conference the goal is not 16-0. the goal is the superbowl.

This is what I believe as in no way Carolina actually got beat by the mangina of a team.

That technique can work when your DBs are better athletes and can close to make a break up. Players like Tillman and Jones aren't built for that.

i think Nick Saban uses teaches the outside leverage technique in man to man. But, you know, he does have better athletes.

But even Norman was getting killed by Julio on them slants. The soft zone with no press coverage is terrible and needs to stop if this team plans on winning a SB

Agree.

Bend but don't break scheme. The whole goal of our defense is to not get beat deep or give up the big play which happened with Julio so that was a fail, but for the most part it works. However since Ron/Sean took over particularly the last 2 years of the playoffs, teams say ok well we'll just slant you and dink & dunk down the field and its been our consistent weakness

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
