Any word on injured Kurt Coleman?

I believe Kurt Coleman has given up as many big plays as he has interceptions.

Guess we will call it a wash. He should not be starting.

You're kidding right?  Coleman had a bad game, but he's a decent Safety for us, do you not remember Godfrey, Nakamura, Lester, or hell the guy next to him in Harper?  Even with that, Safety play didn't cost us yesterday, they dinked and dunked us ALL DAY LONG and just controlled the clock and that comes down to corners and our front 7.  35+ minutes of possession took any possible rhythm away from us on offense and by the end of the game we were slinging the ball to try to get back in it.  Lastly, when we didn't get a TD on Normans fumble return, I knew we were done.

The Panthers wouldn't need a TD on Norman's fumble return if Kurt Coleman was not late to his spot and took the wrong angle. On top of that he loses his feet and falls to the ground. When a LB beats a safety to the deep spot, that safety has serious problems. The safety should have been over the top of the receiver before the ball got close to the LB. That is the truth. Any safety who consistently lets a receiver get behind them to blow the top off the deep coverage needs to be replaced as a starter.

As for Godfrey, he actually was the best safety on the field Sunday, but I do not expect most on this board to acknowledge that fact.

Stuff like the Julio play happen ALL THE TIME when plays break down, which is exactly what happened.  Also, he slipped, which also happens from time to time.  Look at the game plan that beat us yesterday, the 70 yard TD didn't beat us, the clock control by Atlanta did.  Fact of the matter is Coleman has been one of the better safeties in the NFL all season long.  Norman and Tillman got beaten like a drum to the inside by Julio and White yesterday, at some point our Backers should have started playing underneath, but we never adjusted.  Fact of the matter, there was a Ton of problems on defense yesterday and the least of my concerns was the 1 blown deep coverage on an incredibly flukey play, especially by a guy who has been really good for us all year.

As for Godfrey, are you on Crack?  He doesn't start for Atlanta, he's not even the best Safety on their team.  Yesterday, after Kurt, Harper, Boston, Allen, and Ishmael, he was likely no better than the 6th best safety in the dome yesterday.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
