Thanks to BBR, we now can see all the snap counts for the entire 2015-2016 season (the post-season is included).  I'm pretty sure this is just offensive & defensive snaps, no Special Teams snaps are included.

Offense:

Top 5:

  • Mike Remmers - the only player on the team to play every snap on either offense or defense.
  • Michael Oher
  • Trai Turner
  • Cam Newton
  • Greg Olsen

Defense:

Top 3:

  • Josh
  • Coleman
  • TD

Id be interested to see how many times it was Remmers guy that got a sack. Cam was sacked a career low this year but Id like to see the distribution. If we upgrade at RT we could have the best pass protecting line in the league

If we upgrade WRs Cam want have to hold the ball as long either. There were plenty of times this year Cam had all day and had to throw it away.

According to the Washington Post stats page (looks like maybe derived from Stats LLC?), he gave up 5.5 sacks (Cam was sacked 33 total times) and had 11 penalties during the regular season.

Idk about that. When the guy you're in charge of blocking wins SB MVP, you got a problem.

Somebody is going to win  mvp. The Panthers played mistake free for most of the year and when they did, they over compensated by scoring early.

Game could have gone our way very easily. Despite Remmers.

This is a problem.

The problem was leaving Mike on an island 1 on 1 against Von MIller. He needed help, as even the best RTs do against Von, and he didn't get it. Mike was solid all year aside from the Super Bowl when going up against a top 5 pass rusher.

True.

Shula failed him.

This x 100! Mike was serviceable all year for the most part. I still feel our OT's are avg to above avg with plenty of room to get better at the position, however, I think the addition of a well rounded pass catching TE that can pass protect like a tackle will go a long ways in protection versatility in 2 TE sets.

A huge upgrade at #2 TE makes us more effective against everyone. A huge upgrade at OT cost us a lot more and only makes us marginally better against teams with dominant edge rushers.

In in my opinion the cures lie in this order:

1.Get the personnel to incorporate more versatility into our pass protection schemes.

2. Fix the drops by our WR. Ginn did well, but a SURE HANDED deep threat will go a long ways in creating mismatches and dropping edge rushers into coverage on our TEs.

3.Improve our RB depth with better blitz pickups. I think it was Fozzy, but one of our RBs looked lost at times in picking up the blitz.

4.Go sign pro bowl OTs. Granted we need adequate depth to push our starters but logic won't let me blame Remmers for Von Miller's big day. Everyone knew what we had in Remmers, just adequate

Okay, Cam got sacked frequently and badly in the Superb Owl. Time to get over it.

In Remmer's defense, the guy gave up 5.5 sacks all season, playing every down played on offense. That's 5 and a half times out of 1,315 plays where he was beat by the person he was guarding against. That is a sack per play rate of 0.004...

Sure, not all of those plays were passing plays. Not all of those did he block his guy one on one. But some of you want to judge those Superb Owl sacks as a complete failing of Remmers and the work he put in this year. Really? I mean, really?

The guy iron mans it for every single play of the season, gives up only five and a half sacks, keeps his QB protected through the playoffs and then gets burned in the Superb Owl by probably the best pass rusher in the league all while getting no help? Heck he even got knocked off of one of his blocks by an errant Fozzy Whittaker if I recall.

And this guy is garbage to you? Come on, get some perspective. If any other team had that kind of performance at right tackle, their fans would be going, okay, we've got that taken care of, where else do we need help?

Bunch of panty-waisted, whiny Maddenites.
