Eli Apple?

I have seen a couple of mocks having us pick him up and wanted your thoughts on him. He showed he can run, (4.42 40) is good at jaming and run support but sometimes is late to react and tries to predict the QB and that gets him in trouble some times. from what I heard could be really good if he is in the right system. Anyone who watches college or likes to look at draft talent have opinion they'd like to share?

Not my favorite, but he fits the modern NFL CB prototype which Gettleman seems to love so I can definitely see it happening. Needs a fair bit of coaching.

I am intrigued.  This sounds much like Norman.  With the right coaching.  Who knows we could either have his replacement or a partner.

Doesn't even try to look for the ball. Will get lots of PIs early on as a result.

I'd prefer William Jackson but Apple is  extremely young and fits the athletic profile gettleman is looking for so I wouldn't be upset with the pick.

No. You don't pick Eli Apple over the likes of Derrick Henry, Carl Nassib, Ogbah, Clark, or any other player that has performed at an elite level. Apple has not done that

Based on the breakdowns I watched I'm not interested in him at all.  He is scared shitless of tackling.  He literally steps to the side of ball carriers and tries to arm tackle from the side.  His coverage skills are ok, but is one of the softest CBs I've ever seen when it comes to trying to tackle.

His combine performance was very similar to Chris Gamble. So are his measurables.

id take apple , i think he can be an inside guy right away and then replace norman as a worst case scenario
