I'm almost willing to guarantee Harlan Miller will be a Panther

RIght, but it is a little more complex than just that.

My 'Wat' was on the notion that Artie Burns was a free agent that we could potentially sign,

Yeah, the formula for comp picks is so convoluted, nobody really knows how it works. Well, no one but me of course.

But he is not a FA. I thought everyone knew that. lol  Maybe in the 2nd, but I don't think we can get him without actually drafting him. But hey, I've been wrong once or twice in my life.

I don't remember the buzz around Norman. This was before the current rage of long armed CBs, plus Norman was oldddd compared to others. We'll see.

There was a lot of buzz around him, especially after the Senior Bowl.  His poor combine slowed it down.

I'd take him in the 1st. He's the best DB in the draft outside of Ramsey, in my eyes. I don't anticipate him going in the 1st though. Most have him ranked as a 2-3rd rounder. I would bet on early-mid 2nd. If he fell to us at 62 I'd be ecstatic.

I have no idea who the true #2 CB in this draft is. Theres about six prospects who can lay claim with good proof. I personally love fuller, but mirco surgery is a hard sale.

Burns will start being dicussed around pick #15 and each team afterwards. Depends on the unpredictable draft, but I feel hes a first on many teams boards.

Fuller had micro-fracture surgery?  Yikes. I wouldn't touch him.

Yea and it was only six months ago and MCL too...... But I'm I sucker for bloodlines and CBs who love to make 1on1 tackles. "They" where saying in 2014 he was best brother out of the sixteen in NFL.

The reports are,( if you care to believe them) hes waaay ahead of schedule and will be ready for TC. I know if you have a successful mirco, it still limits your career. You go form a 15 year career to a 11. So it's a very difficult sale.

This guy has Panthers CB written all over him.  We love our mid-round small school CBs with ideal height/length and great instincts, but pedestrian athleticism measurables.  Harlan Miller is that guy in this draft.  Norman and Benwikire were both 5th rounders.  Miller in the 5th?

Weird, but I have been saying that he is a Norman clone--I think we grab him, but if we want him, we have to do it in the third round--not the fifth--based on what I am reading.

It wouldn't shock me if we drafted two.  Seriously, Bene is coming off of a broken leg and is only signed through 2017.  Boykin is on a one year prove it and cash in deal.  The rest of our CBs are borderline NFL talents.  You could definitely make a case for adding two CBs in the draft depending on how the board falls.

His measurables stack up almost identical to Norman's.  It's why Norman was available in the 5th and why Miller probably will be too.

His performance at the Senior Bowl with other top college prospects was raved about.

Almost identical to Josh but still worse across the board. Josh has has amazing instincts and watches a ton of tape And there were quite a few instances where he was a fingertip away from giving up a big play. That slight difference in athleticism could be the difference between getting a fingertip on the ball and being a inch away and that assumes equal instincts. That's one of the main reasons I didn't want Josh for more than another year or two. He loses an eighth of a step due to age and he's getting burnt rather than coming up with huge plays like he did against the Saints and that deep ball to TY he barely got to.

I'm not saying I'm against drafting the guy but if it's true that he's going to go late 3rd-early 4th then yeah I'm out. 5th round? Sure why not. I'm more of an athleticism guy than most here, but I'm not against drafting marginal athletes if they can ball. I do draw the line at drafting a 5th percentile athlete in the 3rd though especially at an athlete position like CB.

Norman was a hot name too who was supposed to be long gone before the 5th.  A lot of teams get really leery when a CB runs 4.6+.

Norman is the exception not the rule and I doubt the Panthers want to wait that long for a player to develop either.

Bene Benwikire?  Ran a 4.63, drafted in the 5th round, played very well as a rookie starter.  He'll also be pencilled in as our #1 CB going into camp.
