I Don't Know Why I Continue To Read The Charlotte Observer

Sometimes I really think they have no idea what they are writing about.

on KK

"And the Panthers? They aren’t ripping Short for suddenly deciding to skip OTAs. But they are also taking pains to note he is already under contract"

"Houston is the site of the 51st Super Bowl on Feb. 5, 2017. The Panthers earned a spot in the most recent Super Bowl, but they will find it very tough to get there again if they are without their best defensive lineman"

huh?  KK has made peanuts past few seasons.  Unless they are saying he just banked all his money and has more than enough to sit out a season which I would highly doubt.  I see no way he holds out and forfeits the $1.4 million including signing bonus hes set to make this season.

I vowed to myself to never read them again last year. Their football coverage has always been horrendous, than you add all the "letters to the editor" they published last year to the equation and that was the final straw for me. The one they published last year about the lady complaing about Cam having a baby out of wedlock was boredline racist, sexist, etc. They sold their souls for a few clicks of a website.

I visit my mother and father about twice a week.  They still get the O and I will thumb through it if I have time.  Fish wrapper comes to mind.

He didn't make peanuts. He made what 2nd round picks made. He now deserves more.

I didn't see any problem in what they wrote.   Ron is the one who mentioned KK being "under contract" in his post-practice presser.   I don't think they were hinting KK would sit out the season, just reiterating his importance to the team.  I suppose too there always is the very very slim chance G'man would entertain trade offers if he can't come to an agreement with KK.  I'm pretty confident a deal gets done, but never say never...  Strange things can and do happen in this football business.

A couple of the Observer guys are alright but if I had one wish as it pertains to Panthers coverage it would be to replace David Newton (ESPN). He is so corny, tries too hard to sound cool, tries his best to manufacture controversies out of nothing for clicks, and there are times you'd think he was a Bucs fan. And I'm tired of his incessant need to post "ICYMI" tweets on every single paragraph he writes. Of course we missed it! We don't read your crap! We are not acknowledging your ridiculous click-bait articles.

Person and JJ do good work.

Judging by tweets, I get the impression that the sports editor of the CO doesn't actually like football, or doesn't like sports in general. Maybe he has something against Richardson, there's no telling but on more than several occasions his tweets make it seem like he has a disdain for the Panthers.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
