Fan Fest

I would imagine that Fan Fest will be even bigger this year than last. Last year was crazy. I got there about an hour before it started and didn't even get a seat until it was almost over. Any word on if they will just go ahead and have the whole stadium open from the start, or be like last year where they slowly open the upper level one section at the time? Either way I am going to definitely get there quite a bit earlier, but I would imagine everyone else in my situation last year will be doing the same.

I guess not. Could have sworn I saw it a couple weeks ago being Friday night August 5th but I just looked and it says TBD. I have no idea how I made that mistake. Oh well, I guess this post is a little premature then.

That's probably right but I don't see it posted anywhere

I for one will be in full attendance.  Yes last year was brutal getting a seat, but once you had one, you were still treated to a FREE Panther's practice at BofA stadium.  Not to mention it was later in the evening, so not too hot and it was dark at the end for the laser and fireworks show (my daughter loved that).  My daughter is already asking if we're going back this year.  Point being, I'm willing to put up with some minor annoyances for some lifetime memories I can spend with my family.

I imagine some of the mess last year is that they weren't prepared for the huge turnout.  I'm guessing this year they'll be more prepared given that we're coming off a 17-2 / Super Bowl appearance season....

I was there last year. It was a clusterfug. Obvious that they were caught off guard, and easily the most amount of people ever for a fanfest.

We we were shuffled to the upper deck and it was chaos. Basically every family for themselves. We also really wanted a beer but there were nothing open upstairs. We snapped a few pictures, hung around for 10 minutes and went to Unknown Brewing.

Two things (besides the massive amount of people and resulting chaos) I remember are a guy probably around my age walking into the stadium with his kid who both had brand new Vikings Bridgewater jerseys on. That gave us a good laugh. The losers life is so boring he had nothing better to do than go into The Panthers practice with a Vikings jersey on walking around like he was so cool. We definitely asked him when the Vikes game was that night. Moron

Also recall a middle aged dad going ballistic on panthers stadiums staff for just standing around and not being more assertive with the crowd. The guy had a point but was a colossal dickbag about it. After that awkward moment we decided it was time to go back to unknown.

They were absolutely caught off guard with the crowd. It was almost worse than getting into an actual game. What really sucked was we wanted beers when we finally got up top all the vendors were closed.

I may pass this year

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
