Anyone my age (40) who bitches about participation trophies is full of poo. If anyone remembers childhood from the late 70s/early 80s everyone had racks of participation trophies from soccer, Basketball, baseball, swimming. Highschool letter jackets are participation trophies. What we really worked for was the gold medals, etc

I have a bunch of participation medals from my Navy career....

What would you old fugs have to do if you couldn't complain about young people

Beat the fug out of 'em just for kicks. After all, they're nothing but a bunch a pasty, whiny little bitches playing video games all day. Don't see any of 'em in the gym, walking the trails, riding a bicycle... buncha fugging pussies.

Glad I don't have kids, because they woulda had kids who would be in that demographic right now..

The biggest difference I've noticed (I'm 33 with a 14 year old daughter) is that when I was young and my school called my parents, it was instantly "what did you do wrong"? I've noticed now it's changed to "who did what to my child" when that same call comes in. My daughter's mom raises her like a typical millennial, I raise her like my dad raised me.

Her mom gives her everything she wants (even though she can't afford any of it, but that's a different discussion), and I give her what she needs. When she wants money for something I say ok what are you going to work on to earn that money, and she never wants to do anything and expects it to be given to her.

Sorry little girl you got me fuged up.

I love this lady (below... and not just because she's hot)...

Every generation thinks the next generation are spoiled brats.  Even Socrates  (I think) was bitching about all the things that were going to make the next generation terrible.

People said the same thing about radio,  then about tv, then video games, then internet, now social media.

I think it is fine. I mean how many of us bought shirts and hats that said NFC Champions when we won so why can't the players have a ring to signify that they were the best of the NFC. Anyone complaining about it I just have to ask, if you bought NFC championship gear did you return it after we lost the Superbowl?

i'd rather see the NFL use the money used on these ridiculous 2nd place rings on concussion research or something. or maybe hiring someone who doesnt suck for the super bowl halftime show.

Yeah, the $100K the team spent on these rings is probably the difference between a critical medical breakthrough and the deaths of hundreds of people.

Those heartless bastards!

Spoken like a true Bleeding Heart Liberal that has probably never won a trophy in his/her life. Besides...the NFL doesn't buy the rings. So maybe you could, you know, do a little research before you harp on a subject you are not all that familiar with. Google is your friend.

I am also not sure how you can equate a Championship with 2nd place? The main goal of any organization is to win Championships. Sure winning the SuperB owl is the ultimate goal. But you don't even get to the big game without winning the Championship. Teams don't hang 2nd place flags. They hang Championship flags.

I may not have kept every trophy I ever won. But I worked to earn every dang one. And the wife, who is not by any stretch a sports fan, has a few of them up on my shelf. So even she understands how important trophies can be. Well, that, and she liked the way they looked.

Ah hellz, nevermind. Some folks will just never get it.

The new generation is gonna be so much radder than us. It's just how it goes.

Either be Get Off My Lawn dickholes or be happy for progress.

Back to to the discussion at hand:

Gantt is a loser. I'm happy our team got some cool rings. The better ring will happen next year though.
