Panthers: 3 winners/3 losers from week 1 of the preseason

Just wanted to give Cash some love.  I was watching him closely towards the end and man he was all over the place.  Tracking the ball, not biting on fakes, making tackles.  I also thought Mayo played great too, he seemed like the only one who could tackle for a while.  I hate to single out any one player (that's too easy) so I tried to think outside the box.

Winners:

Young corners (lowered my expectations but was actually happy with their performance)

Mayo/Cash (stood out on a night when no one could make a tackle)

Cam and co. (thought they had a good opening drive, that's all you can ask for)

Losers:

Tackling (man was it awful, the safeties, klein whiffed a few times, our best tackle was on our own player)

Good Football (sloppy play was expected but wow I can't imagine Rivera will be happy, they seemed to be just going through the motions)

Draw Plays (Ummmm...anyone notice this was our primary run play tonight?  Like seriously someone go back and count how many draw's we ran, or variations of a draw)

i don't think there's much game planning for preseason game 1?  And of course, we're gonna keep the play calls very vanilla.  So, this didn't concern me too much.  I found it hard to judge the run game with the Oline struggles.  Need to go back and watch game pass and be able to analyze individual plays.  Just following the TV broadcast I couldn't tell much,

Winner

1) Crume

2) Byrd and Bersin

3) Crume again

I'm too lazy to check tonight, but I wonder how many mentions Crume has gotten on the Huddle prior to tonight.  I confess I forgot he was on the roster.  Assumed he was just a camp body, but he made a couple big plays tonight.

Cox's back injury and Delaire's very bad night suddenly have me more concerned about our DE depth.

Winners:

Our new big CBs. They were physical, and their height makes it difficult to get the ball over them. Very happy.

Losers:

Delaire. The experiment might be over soon. Too weak.

Klein. Although he's a huddle favorite, and fans wrongly try to disagree with me on his abilities (see the trade Klein to Philly thread) he's much more JAG than Luke. I know that he's loved here, but let's be realistic.

Colin Jones - slow, unathletic, and white. Constantly out of position, always watching defenders pull away from him. Bit hard on the screen TD. Get off the damn team.

So you are saying the Panthers should cut one of their best special teams players because he's not a great corner?
