His response may be somebody else’s response, but that’s not how I feel.”

Do you feel like football fans are racist toward you?

“It’s not racism. Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion.”

So if it’s not that, what is it, do you think?

“I’ll let you be the judge. I don’t look at it like that. I look at it like some people have certain beliefs, and I have my own belief, and we can agree to disagree on certain things. But this is what makes sports so amazing, that we can start a discussion around a table, in the newspaper, in the magazines, that will get people’s attention. And that’s what sports does.”

In January, right before the Super Bowl, you said: “I’m an African-American quarterback that may scare a lot of people because they haven’t seen nothing that they can compare me to.”

“I don’t want this to be about race, because it’s not. It’s not. Like, we’re beyond that. As a nation.”

Love this guy more and more every day. It's funny when the article was mentioning that Cam was ridiculed until he started winning then everything was ok - to me as a fan the best part has been seeing Cam do the same thing he's always done, but get better every year, and watching the team around him improve as well.

Is it so hard to find people to write these stories who don't try to shove their political agenda down everyones throat, or who at least don't hate football?

Glad Cam nicely told him to fug off when he tried to force him to answer those BS questions.

Guess he didn't care what Cam thought about Hillary being a crook.  How shocking.

Cam giving the right answers. Looks like he finally learned you have to feed the media with nothing to write about. If he said ANYTHING else than what he said, there would be a sh*t storm coming. Think if Cam said "yes, I do feel that people are racist towards me because I am a black QB". Just think of all the unneccessary crap he would get (including the team). So minimizing any backlash is good and hopefully Cam continues to feed the media with nothing to write about.

He has completely backtracked from his previous statements on this matter. I wonder who got in his head to make him do so.

Money more than likely.  Cams doing right by not stirring the pot when that was exactly what this reporter wanted. Cam wants a intelligent conversation about what a white fan eyes wants to see at QB, not some angry mob saying everyone is racist.

Sad to say, that's true. Getting beyond racism (and bigotry in general) is a long, slow process.

Never trust a reporter.

I learned this a long time ago. They will take your words out of context in a New York minute.

You're right, we're definitely not past it as a nation, and likely never will be.

As far as him backtracking, I'm sure he still firmly believes in his previous statements.  Being one of the faces of the league, I'm sure he's been told how he needs to respond to questions like this.

THIS.

It's really sad that he can't say how he really feels

My main problem is that he said "We're beyond racism as a nation" when that is completely NOT true.

    • You don't have to go through every game and point it out as we are discussing his GWDs. You specifically called out that he had GWDs because he is the reason the team is always playing from behind. We looked at those eight games and only Miami stands out as one where he put the team in a hole to begin with. You've added the Atlanta game where the team didn't score a TD but only kicked field goals. You're not trying to change what we're discussing to fit your feelings re: Bryce. That's not necessary. We are discussing GWDs per the thread topic. We have also shown that your opinion that the team has had to always come back due to Bryce was proven to be false as was the claim that "minus one game" was his fault. Appealing to emotion afterwards by trying to broadly paint the rest of the losses in the same way just doesn't work. Where in the Hell did you get that the entire point is the suggestion that BY is more clutch than Jake and/or Cam? It's giving something to be positive about in that Bryce has shown the ability to comeback and win games despite the calamity that might have taken place to put them behind to begin with. How is that blasphemy?
    • His run blocking is making up for his negatives in pass blocking right now.  He’ll still have pass blocking hiccups, but if they think he’s a critical part to the locker room and team construction, you probably re-sign him and try not to overpay.
    • Callahan is gone McDaniel and Taylor are happening Stefanski is a growing possibility. I mean, they need to get an offense going eventually.  Could see Morris as a surprise one.
