I really want us to re-sign Short- if it doesn't happen I trust Gettleman, but you gotta believe that part of the reason we let Josh ride off was to save money for Short + Trai + Norwell

This is what originally eased my fears about letting Josh walk too.

With Big Vern in the mix, he will be entering his 3rd season which is typically when they really bloom.  If Short is here for an average of 7.5mil over the next 2 years (assuming we tag) your scenario, while cold, could be closer to reality than most would care to admit.

If Vern develops into a top quality DT, and KK continues to play a Pro Bowl level, then the writing is on the wall. The hope is that KK might accept a bit less than his sky high market value, but I doubt it.

I am 99.999999999% positive that there will be no deal done this year.  Gman will ride KK for 19 more games and then decide what to do.  Point is, expect him to play this out.

What you did there...I see it.

Overpaying now is stupid. The point of extending early is to get a reasonable contract. If he wants the type of money that a player gets on the free market he has to replicate and take the risk and wait  That's not speaking bad of Short just the fact of the matter.

    • There are no juggernauts this year. Feels like everyone in the playoffs field is gonna have a puncher's chance. All the best teams still have very obvious flaws.
    • It does vary, and depends on their health and other factors. I mean you really can’t look at the schedule in August and know what you will be facing mid season or even early Any time because stuff happens. It is any given Sunday relative to that. Early this year, KC was beatable. Will they be in December? And we don’t know if they’ll be motivated, or out of it. One team, that is likely a different team in 10 weeks. That’s an example what I mean.  Far as “decent” we know who the good teams are. We could hit a good team on a bad day, and we could have a really good one. It happens. All I’m saying. And I don’t expect it not to, for random teams. That’s about it. Predicting wins is an imperfect pastime.
    • To the folks the last couple years who were boosting up Josh Allen and shitting on Cam Newton. This one goes out to you.
