He played in NE, now there's a dictatorship.

Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Kyle Love laughed when told former teammate Josh Norman recently referred to the organization as a “dictatorship.’’

He says Carolina is anything but that.

Quote

One thing I would say about Coach Ron is he’s a players’ coach, and he’s played on this level, and it’s always great to play for a coach that’s played on this level,’’ Love said of Rivera, a former linebacker with the Chicago Bears. “Not to take anything from Bill. He’s a great coach. But somebody who understands the players -- what they’re going through when guys [are] banged up -- [Rivera] understands because he was on this level. That’s probably the best thing. He knows how to take care of his guys. He likes guys to have fun and be themselves.

i know you feel much like I do when I think of josh, I immediately go back to the draft party.  He was so cool and down to earth his comments and actions don't reflect that same person we hung out with that night.

really strange.

Part of his problem is that to some extent, he was rejected by the Panthers. While it wasn't a foregone conclusion that it would end up like that, it did. Rejection always hurts, even when it's not personal. So even now he's trying (pushed by the media to some degree I'm sure) to make Gman the bad guy. I'm also sure he's the guy Josh is pointing at when he uses the dictatorship term.

In some ways it was personal. It was the way he chose to handle the negotiations that seemed to annoy the front office.  They said his agent was an extension of him. Meaning if interactions had gone differently he might still be here.

I think that bothers him so he tries to rationalize. I'm sure it sucks playing for the Skins.

No doubt. My "not personal" comment was a general one, as in hurts even when it's not personal. Norman could have made more of an effort to give a little, if he truly wanted to stick with the team. There are teams that will pay ridiculous money if that's your #1 goal, but you can't negotiate the Panthers into being one of 'em as long as Gman is the GM. So yeah, Josh made it personal. Hard to make us the bad guy though, when other players want to play here and are willing to take less $, ala CJ.

Nice to get a perspective from someone who was under Belichick's regime. He obviously appreciates Rivera's coaching style more.

I have been a proponent of the Carolina Culture (a term coined by yours truly) and how it has some similarities to the Patriot Way, particularly on the business side of the game, but it's kind of nice to know that the Carolina Culture is a more positive experience from a player's perspective. This leads me to believe that at least from that aspect, Charlotte has the advantage of being the place to be.

Now if we can just get some hardware.

It's like when you break up with someone, but then realize it was a bad mistake.  You want to make amends, but your pride keeps getting in the way.

You can never be like "I wish it could have ended differently..." because people would give say that you're spineless.

    • Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.
    • Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.
    • I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
