A message I posted on a Bronco forum.

Just to echo the OP, I posted this on my Facebook wall this morning:

Quote

I've been going to college and professional sporting events all my life, often in "hostile" environments. I have never had a worse experience than last night. I was spit at, asked to fight, heard the n-word directed at Cam Newton twice, had to separate a group of fans trying to push my girlfriend, and legitimately felt unsafe from the time we left our seats to the moment we walked in my front door. I might mouth off online, but nothing I did in person at the game warranted any of that aggression. I'm glad Gano missed that FG. I don't know if we would have made it out of there if those same Broncos fans were instead mourning a loss. Stay classy.

I realized last season just how bad Bronco's fans are.  I spent a lot of time on social media talking to these clowns and they were by far the worst fan base I dealt with all season.  As much as I can't stand the Saint, Falcon, Seahawk, and Cowboys fans......I gotta say the Bronco's were the worst I have dealt with in years.  They are now in my top 5 most hated fan base in the NFL.....i'd say 80% of them are intolerable pos.  A few years ago my wife and I actually talked about moving to Colorado but I gotta say....you can count that idea out now.  I couldn't imagine being surrounded by a state slam full of them ignorant azzhats.  Yes all fan bases have their own fair share of morons but when the majority of your fan base is made up of them....well, there you go.  Fug the Broncos as a team and their whole stupid fan base.

look at the seahawks. i'm starting to think this happens to every team that gets explosive and highly marketable success.

except us, we are awesome

I actually take the OP seriously. I've mentioned before I get a lot of Donkey games here on the West Coast and it's always the same officiatinfg nonsense at Mile High. I wonder if the Refs are intimidated as some visiting fans are. It would be a plausible explanation to decades of BS.

Never go to a Eagles game, OP.

Seriously, alcohol makes people idiots. Even in the family friendly, bible belt, banker boy confines of BOA stadium. There will always be fights, cursing, taunting, etc. Sure, you had a bad night, but it is what it is, man. At least you weren't that SF Giants fan that died after being beat down by Dodgers fans last year. Or maybe he's in a coma.

I was at the game with my wife. Upper deck section 536. I didn't have any issues. Even when leaving I only had a few people yell the typical smack talk remarks. I went to the restroom a couple times during the game and was the only guy in there wearing a Panther jersey. I was anticipating the worst because inside the restroom away from security is normally where the gloves come off but nobody said a word to me. That being said, I chatted with several Panther fans while leaving after the game that had the opposite experience. Also read a bunch of tweets from RR and a few other guys that had it pretty rough. I lost a ton of respect for that fan base after the stories I'd heard.

You were only a couple of sections away from me.

Ya man I live in Denver too. I didnt make it to the game last night because my kid is sick, but I have been to a few Broncos games. I remember going against the Steelers about five years ago and half the stadium had terrible towels.

All the losers become fans again after a Super Bowl.  Sorry you had a bad experience.

I think I remember that game; it was the 2009 AFC championship and it was the last game I worked after 5 years as a Beer Man in the stands.  I was working the lower section so it may have been different in the cheap seats, but my impression was that lots of the local Bronco fans had sold their tickets to genuine Steelers fans --- still indicative of fair-weather fans.  I was really bothered by there being so many Steelers fans there and like you felt it reflected badly on the Broncos' fan base, but I think what bothered me more was that they were all extremely polite and better tippers than the usual locals.

I was only following the game as text updates, and at the time was happy the Donks won, but once I saw video of all those dirty hits and the vast majority of online Donkey fans playing the 'whiner' card, well, that's not the team I want to root for any more.  I'll be pulling for the Panthers and Cam Newton this year.
