Good analysis. I hope Stew comes back soon but it times to find our future bell cow RB. If this season goes to hell, which I don't think it will, Leonard Fournette is the ideal guy

Before we get a Leonard, this OL needs to be seriously upgraded in my opinion all across the board. They're built for the read option style of running game, not a power running game. And dummies need to let Tolbert go and get a blocking FB

Strewart would marginally help. This offensive line is the root of all problems. Can't run without going jumbo

It really makes you curious how things changed from last season.  Last season, no one could really stop our running game.  Looking at weeks 1-4 last year, we only really had one "good" game to start the year.  While I don't disagree with Bucky's assessment, he's a pretty smart dude after all, and a scout!

We played the two best defenses this year:  Minny and Denver.  Atlanta is playing extremely well right now.  The only dumpster fire we've played as been the 49ers.  So I'm thinking more and more, this is typical Panthers and Rivera for the month of September.  We're a kick away from being 2-2, which is a completely different ballgame.

Maybe, just maybe Tampa is what we need.  We got like 5 take aways last year with Early Tampa...again?

I don't agree with that. The OL was significantly better last year but still it's not like the yards were easy coming. I think the interior hasn't been quite as good and defenses are attacking the edge where the OTs aren't good (Oher was the worst run blocking OT last year) and the TEs aren't either.

Stewart had 4 carries over 20 yards. Top OLs can get their RBs that in a few games.

A top RB would be nice, but I agree with you.  Our most desperate needs in this next draft are OT and DE.

There are good RBs usually available even into the 3rd round.  We need to draft new anchors on the ends of both sides of our line before we think about RB.

But, then again, that would be drafting for "need", so who knows what the hell DG will pull next April... lol.

How did we win 17 games last year with the same oline

By having all 5 players played significantly better.

Defenses have come up with counters to the max protect crutch of the Panthers.

You beat the Denver Broncos with RBs like Tevin Coleman, not Mike Tolbert.

    • Im not angry. Im disappointed. I want to win. Anyone who has watched Bryce play the last 3 years and thinks that this team has in any way seriously addressed the glaring deficiencies in our QB room is deluding themselves. It's been explained ad nauseum how our FO has protected Bryce from feeling even slightly challenged or pressured. A GM without an interfering owner would have brought in another QB to at least give the team a better chance at winning. We just gave an extension to a QB that only got 3k yards on the last play of his 16th game of the year. Indy admitted AR wasn't good enough by bringing in Jones to compete for the starting role. Tennessee drafted Ward to replace Levis. Stroud hasn't repeated his 1st year and Mills' performance was decent when he filled in after Stroud's injury and some were calling for him to remain starter. His future there is still in question even with a 5th year. We should have done the same, especially given that Bryce was benched.  Bringing in Grier is just another glaring billboard pronouncing the obvious. Dave Tepper still has his hands in the daily operations of this team. He controls the QB room because Bryce was his pick. Until Tepper finally admits that Bryce has barely lived up to the standards of a NFL Qb, we're going to spend our days reminiscing of when we were mediocre and finished 9-7.  It's just discouraging. We'll address every position on the field except the one with a glaringly obvious shortcoming. I had hoped Tepper really had backed off. Bryce's 5th year, Dalton's 2 year contract then trade, Kenny Pickett, Will Grier, Jack Plummer, and  Hendon Hooker say otherwise. It already feels like it's going to be a hard year of Panthers football to watch.
