(Completely) and this search for a scapegoat 8 months removed from being in the Super Bowl has led me to believe that I need to boycott this forum until things are back under control. Cam is still Cam, Luke is still Luke, Rivera is back to 2011-2012 Rivera and the defense is back to 2011 form. We will improve and begin to win in November and December which has been common place under Rivera. It is likely we got 9-1 to finish the season and once the disappointing reaction here disappears, I will be back.

Not that it matters as I don't post much but still, this is utter garbage around here and is far more depressing than life needs to be.

likely they go 9-1 to finish the season?  what is considered unlikely then?  10-0?

Not done with the Panthers, only you folks sitting here bitching about things you have no way of quantifying in any way, shape or form, yet spout as fact. It's deplorable and if any of you have learned anything following the Panthers, it's to expect to be disappointed following a run. You are also well aware of Richardson's propensity to hold on to people longer than needed, for better or worse. That makes all of the blame Gettledick threads irrelevant and unproductive.

We all know how the second half of the season is going to go, and until that change improves the discussion around here, you new bandwagoners and folks with poor short-term memory can have at it with the pointless bitching and moaning about things that are never going to happen.

I'm not completely on the "fire Gettleman NOW" bandwagon, but saying he's not to blame for this dumpster fire is stupid as fug.

We have the 5th most cap space in the NFL and we're fielding this secondary, these DEs, and these OTs for a team that was supposed to compete for a chance to return to the Super Bowl.  That's completely inexcusable.  He should've let Norman play out the season under the tag or made the decision to pull the tag earlier when suitable potential replacements were available.  By the time we yanked the tag, free agency was essentially over. Nothing but scraps left at that point. That cap space could've potentially gotten us an NFL caliber CB or DE, maybe even both. Instead, we got Dave bragging about being a hard ass, a bunch of rookie CBs and the pleasure of watching Brees and Ryan combine for just shy of 1000 passing yards in only two games against us.

Yay!

I place blame on Gano, the secondary, the OTs, the DEs, the lack of a 3rd down slot receiver with reliable hands, and the special teams looking terrible.

Who would give the 29th best kicker a top 5 contract for $4m per season and set it up so it hurts the cap if you cut your kicker? Blame that person.

Who would try to make the coaches commit career suicide by gutting the vets and leadership from the secondary, starting rookies at CB and Boston at FS while moving a not so physical Coleman to SS? Blame that person.

Who would continually ignore improvements at the OT position for 4 off seasons? Blame that person.

Who would hitch their legacy to 1 struggling DE for 3 seasons in hopes that they emerge a force, but instead they just disappear for most of the season? Blame that person.

I hear ya, OP

the commentary on this forum is some of the worst I've seen. There's a *lot* of reasons the panthers are not playing well and just like anything else, it's a complex web of factors playing a part in why we're 1-5, but everybody is looking for that silver bullet solution and for them it's running Gettleman out of town.
