Cousins (like Andy Dalton) are quick release guys in west coast offenses.  Cam Newton is one of the slower decision makers in the NFL, and that comes as part of how he feels comfortable (He likes to read the defense and throw when he sees a guy getting open) but also is greatly dependent on the scheme which in the Coryell which has a lot of down field routes which take time to develop...basically what I'm saying is that our dog poo O-Line will never suffice with the QB we have and the system we run.  The more I think about it, the system that Shula is trying to force feed down our throat only works if you have no weaknesses 1 through 11 in our offensive personnel.  THIS is what the difference is between Shula and McDermott, McDermott can scheme around weaknesses like our DE's, Safeties, and Corners (somehow, he's making this defensive unit decent with only a few playmakers), but Shula has absolutely no ability to scheme around a poor o-line, even with the reigning league MVP, a pro bowl RB, and a pro bowl Tight End.

Poor throws at critical moments mostly. He is not a good QB.

Yeah, I was about to say.  Their front four is atrocious.  If somehow they get in the Playoffs and play a defense on fire they'll lose.

      I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.

      I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.

      I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
