Ron not putting faith in his QB who gets that 4th and 1 but choosing to put his faith in a defense against the best 4th quarter QB was such a bad decision.

Let's also keep in mind, a defense without it's MVP, short at an already weak CB position, and lacking any semblance of a pass rush...that decision was sure to end up good.

Game and season on the line...  let's punt and trust the D that has let the Raiders score 24 points instead of trusting Cam and playing to win.  Agree, Riverboat Ron is dead and buried.

When you don't play to win, but hope the opponent loses you're gonna have a bad time.

Thank god a decent response to a shitty thread.

I realize it was on our own 40 but damn.  Our season is on the line and we had them backing up.  SURPRISINGLY our offense was better in the 2nd half than the 1st.

It would have been better for them to stop us at our own 40 score the go ahead and we get the ball back with a couple minutes than to punt it away and let them march down the field.   You had to believe it was going to be 4 down territory for both squads.

In the 5 -1/2 years Rivera has been our coach this is the first time I am willing to discuss a change in coaching.  Partially because of his poor game management and partially because he is going to be too loyal to our real problem on offense.   Mike Shula.

I don't know what Ron was thinking there. That's not a gamble many coaches take, especially when you know your MVP is gonna get that yard 99% of the time. Then the next Raiders drive, isn't that where we got the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty? Ron can coach us out of a good situation.

I wanted to go for it but understood to a degree because of the oline situation. I was more upset with going for two, twice. If we kick those EPs, the Raiders don't go for two and we are up 10. I thought it was common knowledge that you don't start trying to make up points with 2 point conversions, that early.

Thank you.

Yes, we had it on our 40, moving the ball... sure an argument can be made that KB screw up was bigger, he did make a mistake... but when the players and fans look to a coach, they want him to make the right decisions.  RR had time to think about it and chose to play it "safe" or "conservative" or whatever you want to call it and instead of putting confidence in our MVP QB to get it done, he chose to punt and hope the D could hold.

That's been his M.O. his entire stay as coach of the Panthers and maybe that's what JR wants.  He's a defensive minded coach and he's shown over and over again that he'd rather trust in the defense and the coaches handbook that says punt in that situation than to be aggressive and play to win.

Like Dave said... OK, we give up the ball on the 40 there and they score.  We still have more time to score again.  Very bad call imo.

I'd MUCH, MUCH rather lose trying to win than lose trying not to lose.

What is so frustrating is the GM and coach should be smarter than us armchair coaches and GM's.

The Panthers go out of their way as an organization to do the opposite of what we all know they should.

As silly as teh huddle can be we've out GM'd and out coached these hucksters.

    • There are no juggernauts this year. Feels like everyone in the playoffs field is gonna have a puncher's chance. All the best teams still have very obvious flaws.
    • It does vary, and depends on their health and other factors. I mean you really can’t look at the schedule in August and know what you will be facing mid season or even early Any time because stuff happens. It is any given Sunday relative to that. Early this year, KC was beatable. Will they be in December? And we don’t know if they’ll be motivated, or out of it. One team, that is likely a different team in 10 weeks. That’s an example what I mean.  Far as “decent” we know who the good teams are. We could hit a good team on a bad day, and we could have a really good one. It happens. All I’m saying. And I don’t expect it not to, for random teams. That’s about it. Predicting wins is an imperfect pastime.
    • To the folks the last couple years who were boosting up Josh Allen and shitting on Cam Newton. This one goes out to you.
