LOL: Ron on the decision not to go for it on 4th and 1

You're absolutely correct. But big does equal strong and hard to move.

Not talking about a reach block or a pulling guard. Just need 3 big mofos and a big a$$ QB to push 3-4 other big mofos back 2 ft - with the advantage of knowing the snap count.

There is a good reason that both of them aren't on the first or second string. What matters on the line is chemistry and working together. Something totally gone when you add 2 third stringers who have not taken snaps with the other guys all week.

Since you are so loose with your money. I have some prime real estate around Lake Lure for sale. The price is real low, you might call it a fire sale.

Hahaha. Of course that's an exaggeration. My wife would hit my in the sac with a baseball bat, if I'm lucky - she's from Chicago. They crazy!

Then fake a run and hit Olsen. Do you watch any other games? I saw Rodgers convert a 3rd and 2 to close out the game last night, piece of cake. The Raiders aren't a run stopping unit. They are tied for 9th worst in runs for 1st down %. They are tied for 3rd worst in yards per carry. They are the exact team you go for it on 4th and 1. Sorry man, you are grasping at straws trying to defend some bad decisions.

We were 4-6 playing at the team with the best record in the NFL and a QB who has the 2nd most game winning drives the past 2 years. You go for the win when you have an advantage. We had an advantage running against that defense. We didn't have an advantage against Carr and their offense. Simple as that.

If you know so much why hasn't a pro team picked you up as the OC? Maybe you are a legend in your own mind and little else.

I hear what you're saying. But they had played decent enough up to that point.

And this situation would be best suited for the bigger, stronger, not necessarily better, offensive linemen. Hit the man in front of you and push. The dline has to take them on. No time or room for hand strikes or moves. Big against big and will against will - with the advantage of knowing the snap count.

Were you tempted to go for it on 4th-and-1? "Yes very much so, but again with five minutes in that type of situation I decided not to. I thought again we could get a good punt, get them down there, we still had three timeouts and that's what I was working with."

LOL. More faith in a defense that will give up points than in your QB who gets that yard 90% of the time. Days later, I still don't understand his train of thought on this. Per Herm Edwards, YOU PLAY THIS GAME TO WIN.

And right now he's playing the game just to play it, and the Raiders are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook.

I am just done with Shula, Last year was just Cam saving Shula's ass with the miracle plays he pulled out each week.

The offensive line was bad last year too ... Shula just kept the RB and TE in the block the extra defender, so it gave Cam the extra time to hit the big plays down the field. Now every team sends extra defenders when the RB and TE stay in. So the adjustment Shula makes is to send them out now, which leaves a poor offensive line and Cam with no time, We basically went back to the 2014 scheme.

The announcers said it on TV ... this offensive is about long pass plays with no one underneath. We need an OC that will design plays with short and long receivers.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RON .... GET US AN OC THAT KNOWS HOW TO DESIGN AN OFFENSE, BEFORE CAM IS USED UP OR SHELLED SHOCKED TO WHERE HE IS NOT THE SAME PLAYER. WE ARE WASTING HIS BEST YEARS.

Honestly with Cam's development, a Chud offense would be electric right now.

I actually thought the o line was very good last year, that's why we were 15-1 and Cam had years to throw in the pocket. Just watch some of the games, Cam had a lot of time to throw. Remmers is actually a decent RT, he has his days but he man handled JJ Watt somehow in week 2 lol. Could've been a fluke, but oher was great at left tackle minus the run blocking. Having one mediocre o linemen at right tackle doesn't dictate that your whole o line is bad. Imo

You know we averaged over 5 ypc on the 25 carries for the game, right? The decimated OL was actually playing decent and the Raiders aren't a run stuffing opponent.

Also, with Olsen, KB and Funchess, you don't think there is a play to get a WR open 2 yards downfield? Isn't that what their for, to be open because of their size even when covered?

We could have gotten the first and drove down and scored and kept the ball away from Carr. Did you know that Carr has the 2nd most 4th quarter/OT game winning drives (1 less than Stafford) since the start of 2015? I bet you didn't and I am sure as poo our coaches didn't either.

No we don't have a 2 yard pass play to either KB or Olsen.

Evident by the fact we can't convert a 2 point conversion

Fwiw, Ron has been pretty consistent as to when he would or would not go for it.  On our 40, with time left, he was not going for it.  Had it been on Oakland's 40, he would have gone for it.

Not that I agree with his decision.  Our defense played fairly well in the second half, and actually did a good job holding Oakland to just a fg, but we needed to keep the ball and put the pressure on them.

I guess being decimated on the OL and having virtually no push up the middle when Gradkowski went down had no bearing on the decision.

Truth is we got the ball back and had a chance to tie the game or win if Olsen catches that pass.

this is why i forgive it. trai fuging turner was our right tackle for christ sake.

Fourth and 1 is always the question. In reality it was more like 4th and 2.

I wanted him to go for it and thought he should have...But... at that point in the game, that is a huge momentum swing one way or the other. Enough of momentum swing to potentially win the game.

Rivera didn't have any confidence in the decimated offensive line. As a fan, go for it man, nothing to lose. As a coach, I see where he erred on the side of caution.

Logic vs emotion. Tough choice no matter how you look at it.

We were on our own 40 and we downed them at their own 12. Bad players just couldn't do their job.

people are stupid.
