PFF: Short is a top 10 DT

I honestly agree. Short has done some of the underrated work this year, no where near last year's level, but that's what PFF likes doing; highlighting the underrated skillsets rather than the pretty sack/int numbers and basing their scores on that.

Sure, they do flaw in that sometimes, but it's pretty dang accurate for the most part. I think Short deserves that spot there, but based on his flash production, he's taken down a level.

He'll get a good sized contract imo, but not Cox level for sure. He's an integral piece though, and I'm sure we'll retain him.

Still don't like PFF and think it's a fraud even though they're complimenting a Panther.  I think Short is great and it's obviously not all about the sacks but he has seemed to have a down year to me.  Whether it's because of double teams, weak DE play, whatever, he's not getting the TFLs, the sacks, the stops at the los.  Not saying he's bad, just not the difference maker he was last year.  Top 10?  Probably not. I'd go more with top 15 this year.

Why isn't Star on that list? I heard Star is so much better than KK.

Well at least we will be replacing KK with Butler. That should make us all feel better. What could go wrong with that? I mean Bradberry did not even make us miss Josh Norman's production.

Someone needs to get the season highlights together for Bradberry since he is an obvious replacement for Josh Norman. How hard could that be? Didn't Bradberry make several highlight quality plays this season?

Trust in Gettleman. right?

I can not wait for an entire half of the defense to be Butler, Ealy, Bradberry, Thomspon, and Boston next season. No way an opposing offense can get through that amount of talent. Offensive coordinators are going to fear that side of the defense.

Pick. Another. Team.

We will pay KK and Star

Cuz if we don't players are going to know the Panthers won't be the ones to pay them and its bad for chemistry as bad as Hurny showing everybody love with contracts

That's actually a good point.  While it's a no brainer to sign Cam and Luke, there are the other guys who make the team work.  Star and KK are kind of a must sign.  I don't think either is worth the full $20 million a year that I'm sure someone will get, but if we were able to pick up BOTH for $20 million a year (I can dream right?), that would communicate our desire to reward our best players.

Folks keep bringing up Norman, while we as fans were quick to say "let's take from JNo to pay KK," the reality is that there was no way Gettleman was going to pay JNo that much, for that long at his age, when we have OTHER guys to pay.  Star and KK are different in that DTs can still be very effective in their mid 30s so long as they stay healthy (the end of their contracts).

Now if KK wants to use that as a basis for a $17 million dollar a year contract....good luck to him!  I'm not sure he'll find a team willing to do that right now.

The franchise tag could be a distraction though

This is such a lame excuse. How big of a distraction was Eric Berry holding out until the week before the regular season started? Last I checked they are pretty good and he has had two game deciding interception returns, pick six against us and the pick two against ATL, in the last 3-4 weeks.
