Does anyone buy that Rivera is debating what to do with Luke?

Luke wants to play

Rivera made a point a weeks back that cleared players play and was a LB.

I just don't buy Ron is debating what to do. Ron is a legit coach in the fact his role is to take ownership of many things even if they aren't his personal views.  He believes in chain of command.

To me this is a GM or Richardson making the call.  Not sure why they are playing this game.  Maybe they don't want to piss Luke and some of the fanbase off by saying he is officially done.

I initially endorsed sitting him. Now I endorse a heathly player playing that wants to.  If Cam and others are going to be trotted out each week....I don't see why you can/should be selective with Luke at this point.   Cam's out there taking dome shots and playing hurt. No real solid reason for putting bubble wrap on a healthy Luke given what other stars are doing.

Since Luke has had two concussions in a year, I'd rather keep him out two meaningless games. If he comes back and gets another concussion, he will really need to consider his life outside of football. I understand that he could come back and have a concussion in the first game next year, but these last two are absolutely meaningless and not worth the risk, in my opinion.

For my own selfish reasons, I want to see him play and hit some people. I don't want to go into next preseason or regular season on egg shells wondering how he's going to react to his first live contact in nine months.

With that said, my selfish reason doesn't mean squat and Luke should do what Luke wants to do.

Is it worth the risk playing Cam in two meaningless games behind a patchwork OL while the league is green lighting headhunting on him?

That is my issue sitting Luke at this point.  I mean NFL is brutal for all.  Can't really get behind not playing one healthy stud and having other studs going out there

Ain't a troll. I initially wanted him shut down.

then I watched Cam Monday Night.  There    are some hypocritical elements to shutting Luke down healthy and having equal studs playing in meaningless games.

Two this season? I know he had one last I don't recall a second this season.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
