Is Mario Addison the Panthers best DE?

He's our best pass rushing and speed DE. He leads the teams with sacks.

Now, question is if he can play with pure power in the run game, which is why I can see the coaches only using him situationally.

But he better be resigned. Also, @Jeremy Igo you doing coaches film this week? Would like to see how some plays went and gone, whatever opportunities were missed, and how our corners did overall.

Ealy you still keep because hes under a cheap rookie contract  for 1 more year even if hes just a 4th string guy.  If you can get CJ back cheap, you get him because you need a vet.  If Addison can get a reasonable deal done get him.  Need 4 DEs so 1 FA 1 draft.  FA class is pretty weak for 4-3 DE.   only other reasonable cheaper guy I like is Alex Okafor for Arizona

Keep Horton for run support. He's honestly really good at that area from what I'm seeing. I think the DE position issue isn't as bad as everyone thought it'd be.

Your still going to need to get 1 or 2.  Ealy, doubt we wont keep after his rookie contact end after next year.   CJ even if re signed doubt has 2 years left in him.

Need to draft 1 to groom for when these guys leave can step right in.  And a FA weather it be Addison or another guy.

Though we have tons of players that are better, career wise, he has been a top 5 player on our team, THIS YEAR.

Short, Cam, Kuechly, Davis, Olsen, Funchess, Shaq, etc.

He has been consistently good. Only other consistently good I can think of, off the top of my head is Olsen.

Our stars have been hurt or inconsistent, for sure.

    • Doubling tripling and quadrupling down on this subject in defense of the pick is reminiscent of a certain mindset that has overtaken the political world. This conversation will become less contentious and dragged out to the point of becoming a dead beaten horse if rational minds can simply agree that we made a mistake missed on a potential franchise center and we will learn from it. All this coping is unnecessary.
    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle. Also, “flashed his talent” isn’t 9 carries for 22 yards. His one reception for 18 yards isn’t a flash with 11 other touches for 27 yards. He hasn’t proven anything. We have no idea if he’ll contribute in 2026.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
