Should we exercise 5th year option on Benjamin?

Official numbers aren't out yet, but its safe to say it will be about $8.5 million for 2018 season if we exercise it. Deadline to decide is may 3rd.

There's plenty of time for things to change with free agency and the draft.

At this point I wouldn't call it a no brainer, like it was with Star last year. The easiest answer would be to say we need to see how the offseason plays out first, but what moves or non moves would change your opinion on using this option on him if any?

People on the forum might not think it's a "no brainer" but I guarantee Dave and Ron think it is.

Personally, I believe Kelvin is too good and has too much potential to not exercise it. I'd say it's a close certainty that his option is picked up.

Since cam there's only been a few cases of teams not using the 5th year option. In almost every case it's a no brainer. THis is no different

Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of seeing how he plays next year first. Deadline is may 2nd of this year.

Even if you have some doubts about him, it would be extremely foolish to let him walk for nothing. So yes, no brainer.
