Would Mike Williams be wasted in Carolina?

If we are going to draft a receiver, we need someone who can create space. In all 9 games I went to last season, I very rarely saw receivers getting the space to create yards after the catch.

I honestly don't know if Mike Williams is that type of receiver. But if he is, it wouldn't be a waste to select him at #8. Dude can ball out.

Doesn't look like it to me. The guy makes tons of catches with guys draped all over him and those are college DBs.

Williams and all Clemson's recent WRs have all been fairly different (Watkins, Nuk, Bryant).

Personally I think Williams is the type WR Cam needed.  Yet we already drafted KB and Fun Fun.  Now based on all our other investments I think we would benefit most overall by improve Ginn's role in the offense. Williams is the type WR that will go up and get a ball but gives slightly more overall ability than KB.

He would not be a waste but if you draft him you might as well cut Funchess. The offense would improve with him no question.

However I think we'd be better off as a whole with a Dede Westbrook/that Baylor kid type in the second or third and DE/S at 8.

I really want Deon Cain next year.

FORTUNATELY, I think this is a waste of time and there's less than 1% chance we go WR at 8.

Obviously Funchess is not getting cut in any circumstance.  It's within some sane possibly that he or KB could be used in some type of deal for a LT if we have no choice and said team has found their LT replacement and is demanding a young asset as part of the deal.

FA and draft WRs would then become very much in play in all shapes and sizes. But hopefully NOT at 8 under ANY circumstance.

Rumors that he will test in the bottom of his group. Incoming slow 40, not a freak athlete, etc. Repeat rumors

He'll probably run mid to low 4.5 which is fine for his size. He reportedly has a 40ish inch vertical though. He's basically Dez Bryant. Not a burner but fast enough, very physical, same size as Dez and high points and attacks the ball with strong hands as well as anyone. Runs hard with the ball in his hands and will look to punish smaller DBs.

I really like him but he's not for us in my opinion given what we already have. I hope he's there and we can trade down with someone who wants to come get him. Maybe Philly, but after given up so much for Wentz they might be gun shy on giving up more picks. Get down to the 15-20 range, pick up another 2nd and then draft a DE/S/Ramczyk. Then use that 2nd on a shifty, burner WR. That's my dream scenario.
