LB Coach Al Holcomb could follow McDermott to Buffalo

I realize COULD is an important word here but it stinks we are likely to lose Washington or Holcomb. Both are GREAT position coaches.  I'm sure Garafolo didn't just just a name out of the hat either, he's been told they are working on it.

MORE SMOKE TO THIS

Holcomb is a bigger loss than most will think.  Look at the LB he has developed  :  Kuechly, Davis (obviously not his whole career), Klein, Thompson, and now Mayo looks promising.

I mean, Holcomb coaches Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis - might be the easiest job in the league? LOL

Make fun all you want but don't you think he had something to do with helping develop them.  The answer, of course, is yes.  He is a hell of a coach.

I'm sure he's a good coach, I'm also sure Rivera can find another good coach to replace him.

Why are we worried about losing Holcomb? He was a QA guy or something the year before we hired him. Luke was entering his 2nd year here. Holcomb didn't develop anyone. I guarantee Luke and TD are more important to Klein, Shaq, and now Mayo's growth. Holcomb probably learned more than he taught.

Not saying he isn't a good coach but Luke and TD just need a guy to run them through drills and offer some outside perspective from time to time. Those guys coach that group.

If that was the case, I doubt McDermott would make him his DC in Buffalo.  While I agree, Luke and TD don't need much coaching, I'm sure he had a larger say in the defense as a whole than you'd think (especially in light of McDermott's decision)

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
