Reporter accidentally walks off with Kyle Shanahan's backpack

...which, incidentally, contained the Falcons game plan for this Sunday.

He returned it a few hours later "after realizing the mistake".

The reporter in question, ironically enough, is employed by a San Francisco newspaper.

But hey, if Sunday's game is a blowout win for the Patriots, weeeellll...

LOL! In all likelihood just an innocent mistake, but it always makes you wonder when something like this happens. Especially when the Pats are involved.

It's absolutely an innocent mistake.

After nearly 30 minutes of searching and frantic phone calls, Spander returned with Shanahan’s bag. The coach was undeniably relieved.

“That would have been bad,” he said in a text message to USA TODAY Sports.

Spander, 78, is covering his 40th Super Bowl. He had no idea he had taken the wrong bag until contacted by a fellow writer.

“I’ve screwed up before, but I’ve never picked up the wrong bag,” Spander told USA TODAY Sports. “And there’s no way I’d have a game plan.”

But given the circumstances, the history and the reputation of the Patriots, it's also funny as hell.

And if Sunday's game is a blowout, I guarantee you there'll be Falcon fans pointing to this story.

The Pats don't even need to cheat to win this one. Everybody points to the game sealing pick in their win over the Seahawks in '14 but the real story of that game is Dan Quinn's defense getting completely destroyed by the Pats and allowing them to come back from down two scores in the 4th to win it, even with all the insane talent the Hawks had on D then.

Pats are going to score at will on the Falcons D as they have a better offense now than they did against that Hawks D then and Belichick is going to outcoach and outprepare Quinn and Shanahan.

False. Wilson completed 12 passes all game. The Seahawks ran lynch to death that game because they got comfortable with the lead.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
