I have no idea which thread I posted a reply to this type of drivel, but I looked pretty deep into the stats and compared him to Peterson and he compared very favorably in terms of good games against good teams and Peterson had the same type of results. Guess what, in the NFL, most RBs have good games against bad Ds and worse games against good Ds.

That said, the games against Alabama were awful and not due to Fournette. There were a couple of analysts that broke down the games and Alabama and they were absolutely destroying the OL and LSU has 0 threat at QB.

Also, I'll be honest, if you think the Alabama D going against a terrible passing team is typical then, you haven't looked at draft results this year and last year. They were loaded and if Fournette is the only weapon, they'll stop him. Clemson did great because A) they have a better OL, B) Watson is a heck of a QB and C) they have multiple weapons to worry about in Williams/rest of WRs, Gallman, Leggett and Watson.

And D) they were destiny's darlings.  NCSU missing a chip shot to win confirms that fact.

That about covers it. Better teams can stop one-dimensional offenses with ease. And LF had, what could be argued as the worst QB play of any power 5 team, his entire career. Have watched his entire career. As someone who isn't a fan of 1st round RBs, he's an exception. But not a fan of trading up. 8 is already enough investment.

The only way I see DG trading up is for Myles Garrett.

Would take next year's 1st, no doubt, leaving us only 5 picks in 2018.  I don't see it.  If the 49ers new regime remains hellbent on keeping Staley for a premium, maybe a package of Joe Staley, #2 (Garrett), and 2018 4th Round for our 1, 2, 3 this year and 1 next year.  Maybe 1, 2, KB, and 1 next year.  Far flung and I don't like it.  Not enough juice for squeeze.

I wouldn't be crazy about that at all. Not only am I not a fan of taking a rb so high but also unless they seriously fix the o line they will be wasting 2 picks.

Having said that, if he's the bpa at #8 take him, but personally I hope he isn't.

This team values the run game like no other. That's been the MO. It's funny how they just happened to get the all time best running QB. Their priority is to take the pressure off of Cam.

If Stew can't play the whole season it would be very wishful thinking to believe a 3rd-4th rounder could fill his shoes. The undrafted free agents and sixth rounders haven't panned out. There is no substitute for elite talent at the most important positions. They can't afford the stopgaps they have to solve the RB problem long term.

If Kahlil and Oher play and we add a couple quality depth guys the Oline will be OK again no need to panic there.

If Fournette is the guy and we only give up 3rd rounder or two to move up that's great. We don't need a bunch of draft picks this year. We're not (shouldn't be) a rebuilding team like most of the teams in the top ten.

I see where you're coming from.  But, in this Draft there's a clear difference between the safeties and Fournette, and Solomon Thomas.  Thomas while being solid, isn't a guarantee.  While Fournette is a guarantee at this point.

...so was Trent Richardson...high draft RB's usually dont pan out...and if we trade up it would be a reach...

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
