ā€œBeing behind Luke and Thomas Davis was a great learning experience but I’m looking for an opportunity to go somewhere and start,ā€ Klein said.

Klein, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,351,300 contract and is now in a position to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2016, Klein appeared in 15 games for the Panthers and recorded 31 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and a pass defense.Ā Pro Football FocusĀ has him rated as the No. 76 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

Would be a great fit in a team that runs a 3-4 defense where his lack of speed and athletic ability could be concealed.

Lack of speed and athleticism?Ā

ā€œIf I’m correct, his GPS has been faster than Luke’s," safetyĀ Kurt ColemanĀ said of the tracking device that measures the movement of players during practice. ā€œThat’s very impressive.

ā€œAnd he’s faster than TD."

That would be outside linebackerĀ Thomas Davis, who won’t admit anybody is faster than him.

But Klein is fast.

ā€œI don’t think people quite understand his abilities, which is just fine with me," Carolina coach Ron Rivera said. ā€œHe’s a solid football player and does some good things for us."
