Panthers Have Interest In LT Matt Kalil - Official Info From A Source

Didn't Voth also speculate our next move this offseason was to extend Kalil?

Maybe im reaching here but is it possible the bro's want to play together and Ryan has said he will take more of a team friendly extension if it secures adding his brother to the team?

Personally I wouldn't consider him the answer at LT for us. Minnesota wouldn't let him walk so easy since they have plenty of line issues themselves and no apparent replacement on the team. Not that it would matter much, since the class is so weak but the Vike's don't even have a 1st rounder this year to secure one of the best tackles this draft has to offer.

I'm all for competition but he needs a contract that reflects that's what he would be. If there was ever a time for one of those 1 year prove it deals, I guess this would be it. I just don't want us to stop there if we do sign him

Would be a very "meh" move for a GM that has always been "meh" on protecting Cam.

You tell me who we could of drafted or signed that would be so good since gross left? Because in general the draft and FA hasn't had any world beaters that we could have gotten these past few years.

Would honestly love to sign Kalil, AND trade for a starting LT like Staley.  Not knowing if Oher can come back, or what he'll be...we can't sabotage another season by throwing poo against the wall at OT. Call SF on draft day and get it done.

I just don't think Staley will be available. The 49ers are gonna have a shiny new QB next year. Doubt they'll be willing to get rid of their franchise LT and allow that guy to take a beating.

    • So what are "the people" paying for when they give money to a rich dude for a sports ball situation?  The brand and prestige of a sports ball team.  It's the hallmark of a big city to be able to do that.  There is a pretty terrible ROI on public dollars into private enterprise, period.  But governments continue to do it for the image associated with it. Since I live outside of CharMeck, it doesn't affect me much.  I love my Panthers.  They have been part of my life since they announced the team in the early 90s.  My parent's names are on one of those Panther statues.  Some of my best memories with my family and friends come from that stadium.  But on the flip side, could CMS use the $650 million?  What about public housing?  Streets?  Parks & Rec?  There are a lot of other places that $650 million could go. But in our modern society, I bet that after much hemming and hawing, the money will come.  Areas of the budget will suffer.  Some taxes will increase, but that's how things work in our society.  Charlotte is not willing to lose the Panthers.
